Welcome to dirt prom.
In case your social media feeds have not made it abundantly clear, Coachella is upon us. That means that plenty of big-name musicians are gathering in the desert to perform, sure, but it also means that fashion fans from your favorite model to your teenage cousin are getting together and stunting their most fringe-bedecked, tie-dyed and semi-naked ‘fits for each other and for the ‘gram.
The first weekend of “dirt prom,” as festival-goer Hari Nef aptly described it, was full of both laid-back looks and over-the-top flexes. In the former category, there was the likes of Luka Sabbat, Yaeji, Hailey Bieber and Jaden Smith wearing casual blue jeans to the Levi’s party; in the latter, there was Kacey Musgraves twirling around her stage in burnt orange Balmain with Instagram star Baddiewinkle and Janelle Monaé dancing up on Lizzo in silver sequined leggings.
