Some ditched the theme in favor of bold colors and dancefloor-ready silhouettes.
The Met Gala is the gala of all galas, an extravaganza of the most fantastical, opulent fashions. But while the event itself has a themed dress code (this year, it was “in honor of Karl“), the after parties are a sartorial free-for-fall.
At the Standard, Keke Palmer danced in a spaghetti-strap, color-popping dress by Sergio Hudson that channeled the ’80s. Chloe Fineman partied with her miniature Choupette clutch after hosting the red carpet live stream. Janelle Monáe brought the energy in a Thom Browne bikini as flamboyant as revealing.

Michaela Coel switched into a different Schiaparelli number for her after party at Loosie’s, while Coco Rocha changed into archival Karl Lagerfeld for the brand’s fête at The Mark. Meanwhile, Stella McCartney, Aubrey Plaza, Madelyn Cline and their famous friends lived it up at Zero Bond, in black and metallic looks.
