Featuring oversized bags, pantsless looks and not a print in sight.
Maximilian Davis continued to expand his vision for Ferragamo on the label’s Fall 2023 runway, which marked his sophomore collection for the brand. Building upon last season’s offering, which gave the Italian brand a sexy, new look, the 67-piece showing communicated a glamorous take on minimalism that was anything but boring.
Ferragamo’s fall is full of oversized bags, simple silhouettes and a continued suggestion that pants are entirely optional, but opaque black tights are worth exploring. Not a print or pattern was in sight, but Davis played with a striking color palette — navy, red, white, slate gray and black — as well as textural elements (for example, fashioning a simple tank top dress in liquid vinyl) to create visual interest. Contrasting buttons trailing down a top highlight the curves of the body, while single-breasted coats get asymmetric closures for a sophisticated edge.
More than the subtle glam and silhouette play, Davis’ accessories are an obvious highlight of the collection, with an array of oversized handbags big enough to fit a large dog and slouchy-yet-structured pocketbooks slung casually under models’ arms, reminiscent of bikers carrying their helmets post-ride.
