Milan Fashion Week — along with its conversation-starting shows, impactful collections, freshly-minted trends and parade of drool-worthy handbags — has officially come to a close. But before the fashion world flits over to Paris for the final leg of the Fall 2023 debuts, we’re taking a moment to appreciate the many truly inspired beauty looks we spotted on the street style crowd outside the Italian shows.
On the whole, the hair and makeup in Milan were a celebration of maximalism: The punk movement is alive and well, at least judging by many of the spiky neon hairstyles, faux facial piercings and goth-adjacent lip colors on display. Showgoers’ obsession with braids — which we spotted in New York, but then really took off in London — continued to flourish. (We particularly loved seeing the many creative iterations of braided ponytails.)
