The 23 Best Beauty Products Fashionista Editors Tried in November

Each month, Fashionista editors try a *lot* of beauty products. And while not every formula we test is a winner, we’re constantly unearthing new favorites. Here, we’ve rounded up our latest hair, skin, fragrance, wellness and makeup discoveries — whether fresh-to-market drops or merely recent additions to our personal routines.

Before the holiday glam season ushers in sparkling champagne shimmers and cherry red lips, team Fashionista focused on refreshing our beauty routines with some much-needed hydrating skin care this November.

The colder, drier air has inspired us to reach for a handful of moisturizing products, including a lightweight jelly-serum that reduces the appearance of redness, a silky exosome treatment that leaves skin looking ultra smooth and a hyaluronic acid-spiked gel serum. It wasn’t all skin care for us this month, though: We also leveled up our fall makeup looks with a glittery eye-shadow duo, a faux freckle stamp and a hydrating black cherry-tinted lip oil. Plus, we’re filling our spaces with cozy, cold weather-approved candles that emit warm, musky and woodsy scents.

Ahead, see (and shop!) all of the beauty finds that brightened our rainy November.

Typology Tinted Lip Oil in Black Cherry, $30, available here: “This wine-colored tinted lip oil imparts a wash of vamp-y color that feels perfectly festive for this time of year. With a blend of squalane, jojoba oil and vitamin E, the formula is moisturizing and pleasantly shiny, without being over-the-top glossy or the least bit sticky.” —Steph Saltzman, Beauty & Style Director

Olive & June Gel 6 Polish System, $115, available here: “I’ve been doing my own gel nails for nearly a decade, so suffice it to say I’ve tried every gel product and brand I can get my non-professional hands on, and I’m excited to have finally found kit that actually has everything you need for an easy, flawless at-home gel manicure. It includes a compact UV lamp, nail clippers, a buffer, remover, cuticle cream, base and top coats and six gel polish (HEMA-, 15-free and vegan) colors. It’s suprisingly user friendly — I’m definitely not ambidextrous, but both hands look perfect — and this price is unbeatable.” —Savannah Sitton, Market & Branded Content Editor

Lush x Meredith Marks Snow Place Like Salt Lake Bath Bomb, $6, available here: “There’s no better person to launch a bath bomb than the queen of baths herself, Meredith Marks. Though I’m typically not the biggest bath-taker, I can’t help but chase the feeling Marks speaks so highly of so frequently on ‘The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,’ and what better way to experience her new Lush collab than while watching the show every week?” —Brooke Frischer, Staff Writer and Social Media Manager

Exoceuticals Exo H-Serum Hyaluronic Acid Treatment, $224 $157, available here: “I’m officially sold on this hydration-boosting serum that boasts seven different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, plus other heavy-hitting hydrators like exosomes and aloe vera. It has a gentle, silky texture that easily absorbs into the skin (but doesn’t uncomfortably tighten if left on without moisturizer for too long).” —Janelle Sessoms, Staff Writer

Patrick Ta Major Dimension Eye Illusion Eyeshadow Duo, $42, available here: “The holiday season naturally calls for an extra touch of shimmer, and Patrick Ta’s newest eye-shadow duo has quickly become the shining star of my makeup routine. My go-to duo — ‘We Need Better Lighting’ — boasts a pearlescent white and a golden metallic shimmer that creates a sparkling champagne-like shade when combined. In keeping with its name, both shadows are packed with tiny flecks of glitter that add a dimensional element to any eye-shadow look while ensuring a twinkling finish that lasts all night.” —Catie Pusateri, Contributing Writer

Summer Fridays Jet Lag Deep Hydration Serum, $44, available here: “I’m constantly searching for products that will quench my dry skin and have been loving this Summer Fridays serum lately. I apply it at night and in the morning before moisturizing. Even under makeup, it soaks right in for an undetectable-yet-effective hydration boost.” —Emma Greene, Editorial Intern

Biologique Recherche Shampooing VIPO2, $65, available here: “I have porous hair, so the idea of anti-pollution hair care is especially appealing. I’ve been a longtime fan of Biologique’s VIPO2 gentle oxygenating facial cleanser, and I’m just as into this shampoo version, which gives my hair and scalp the same detoxing treatment. During a time of year when my scalp can start to feel dry and itchy, it’s gone a long way toward keeping things calm.” —Steph

Korres Black Pine Primus 6xHA Wrinkle-Smoothing Youth Activator, $65 $39, available here: “This serum (a clear, water-y gel) uses six kinds of hyaluronic acid to penetrate multiple skin layers. Though I can’t speak to its wrinkle-fighting powers just yet, I’ve definitely noticed that my skin looks plump and glow-y after applying it. Per the name, the gentle formula also has ‘black pine bud bioactive extract,’ an ingredient that’s supposedly rich in antioxidants and can smooth skin, promote elasticity and add plumpness.” —Savannah

Tarte Go With The Faux Freckle Stamp, $26, available here: “I love a faux freckle, so when Tarte released this multi-pronged pen with variously sized stamps, I knew I had to try it. The five points make applying the marks easy and cuts application time in half. The pigment is just opaque enough to make an impact, but subtle enough to leave a natural finish. This is for sure my new go-to freckle product.” —Brooke

Nécessaire The Body Lotion Eucalyptus, $48, available here: “My body has been extra prone to ashiness lately, so I’ve turned to this thick, creamy lotion to help add and retain moisture. The fast-absorbing formula is spiked with a blend of peptides, niacinamide, vitamin C and vitamin E, which has effectively soothed and softened my skin after routine use. I’m also drawn to its refreshing eucalyptus scent, which is strong enough to be worn on its own — no added fragrance needed.” —Janelle

Gisou Honey Infused Hydrating Lip Oil in Cherry On The Cake, $28, available here: “One glance into my lip-care stash reveals my unabashed love for a cherry-colored hue, and Gisou’s newest shade of its lip oil, ‘Cherry On The Cake,’ fits right in. Lacking the stickiness of a gloss, this sheer, shimmering oil is full of honey and hyaluronic acid. With a single swipe, it delivers a lightweight, sheer cherry hue that leaves my lips feeling moisturized all day.” —Catie

DedCool 01 “Taunt” Massage Candle, $55, available here: “DedCool’s Taunt is my current favorite scent. I have the perfume and linen spray versions, but I think the candle is where it really shines. The scent is clean and warm, perfect for round-the-clock burning. It gives my apartment an elevated, fancy hotel-style scent, reminiscent of fresh laundry with a hint of vanilla and bergamot.” —Emma

Seen Leave-In Conditioner, $27, available here: “A facialist recommended this dermatologist-developed hair-care brand, which prioritizes skin health in addition to hair health, omitting any irritating and pore-clogging ingredients. The leave-in conditioner — which is lightweight enough for my fine hair, but moisturizing and frizz-calming, too — was an instant favorite. And it’s helped to keep the annoying hormonal breakouts I’d been experiencing along my hairline in check, too.” —Steph

Commence Shine-Enhancing De-Tangler, $18, available here: “Just a couple of mists of this detangling spray, and my comb passes through wet hair with no problem. It has a proprietary blend of quinoa peptides (meant to thicken hair), alfalfa extract (for hair growth) and a fermented formula, as well as coconut water that adds a fruity smell. I also noticed my flyaways were better controlled and my hair looked glossier when using it.” —Savannah

Laura Geller Jelly Balm Hydrating Lip Color in ‘In The Buff’, $21 $12, available here: “As someone whose lips dry out and become a bit dull quite quickly in the colder months, I love having this moisturizing vitamin E-packed balm with a sheer flush of neutral pink on hand. It gives just the right amount of shine, too. The finish is not so glossy that it looks too makeup-y, but offers just the right subtle sheen to elevate a bare-faced day.” —Brooke

Dermelect Lip Mask Melt, $26, available here: “I need an intensive, overnight lip treatment, or else I spend the day trying to remedy my flaky, cracked lips. This lip mask more than gets the job done: It’s packed with moisturizers like castor oil and jojoba oil, plus Abyssinian oil and evening primrose oil to deliver a long-lasting layer of protection and even reduce the need for my daytime balms. It has a soft, velvety texture that glides onto the lips and only requires one or two scoops for full coverage.” —Janelle

Dazzle Dry Nail Lacquer in Evergreen, $22, available here: “Like every other former theater kid in America, I haven’t stopped thinking about the ‘Wicked’ movie. To get into the Ozian spirit, I’ve been sporting Dazzle Dry’s Evergreen polish, a pine green shade mixed with blue shimmer fit for Elphaba herself. Like the rest of the brand’s collection, this polish dries quickly and remains chip-free for a good few days (which is a plus as an arguably too-frequent hand washer).” —Catie

Gold Bond Eczema Relief Medicated Hand Cream, $6, available here: “It’s not the most glamorous of purchases, but I’ve bought two of these eczema relief hand creams this month alone. If you’re unfortunate enough to suffer from eczema that flares up at the sight of an unfamiliar hand soap or lotion, this product may be your new holy grail. I apply it after each hand wash, which, I’ll admit is a bit of a hassle, but it has done wonders for my hands!” —Emma

Homecourt Signature Candle in Cocomoi, $65, available here: “Sweeter notes of fresh coconut water, cardamom and fig are mellowed out by woody ones, like cedarwood and vetiver for a luxurious, cozy, earthy scent I absolutely love. This candle also has a soy wax blend, organic cotton wick and comes in a minimalist ceramic vessel.” —Steph

Cocofloss Holiday Set, $36, available here: “I’m normally apprehensive about any floss flavor besides mint, but I was pleasantly surprised that the fun flavors in this holiday sampler were very subtle — Dark Chocolate has only a note of cocoa and still leaves my breath tasting fresh. My favorite, though, has been Apple Cinnamon, which I pretend is a Hot Toddy for winter.” —Savannah

Cécred Temple Oud Candle, $60, available here: “I’m obsessed with the scent of Cécred’s hair products, so imagine my joy when I found out the brand is also offering it in candle form. The divine musky, warm aroma features notes of sandalwood, bergamot and neroli, balanced with jasmine, lavender and Haitian vetiver. But sensitive noses, be warned: The scent is quite potent. I don’t even have to light the candle for its smell to waft around my room.” —Janelle

By Rosie Jane Dulce Eau de Parfum, $80, available here: “After this month’s first dusting of snow, I promptly switched up my go-to floral fragrances for warm, creamy gourmands offering a sensorial cozy embrace. By Rosie Jane’s Dulce has emerged as my cold-weather favorite thanks to its rich notes of vanilla, hinoki wood and nude musk. With an added dash of chocolate, Dulce’s warm sweetness will surely accompany me throughout sugar cookie season.” —Catie

Hourglass Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balm in Slip, $36, available here: “I finished a tube of this balm this week and immediately ran out to get another. It’s worth all of the hype: The formula is moisturizing, not too sticky and fairly long-lasting. For my fellow fair-skinned, autumn-color-season folk, Slip is an ideal your-lips-but-better shade.” —Emma

In case you missed last month’s picks, you can find them here:

Pattern Beauty The Hair Steamer, $169, available here: “I’m new to hair steaming, but it makes so much sense for textured hair. Pre-shower, I apply a mask to my very dry, frizzy, tangled, depleted 3a/b curls and used the (brilliant) prong attachment on this tool to comb it through. I’m blown away how quickly and easily the steam detangles and revitalizes my hair, making the rest of my routine about 10x easier and more effective. It also has a slew of other uses for various hair types including stretching, adding definition and scalp care. (Just don’t overdo it — over-steaming can weaken strands over time.) I also love that it comes with a cleaning kit, and the price is right for such an innovative, effective tool.” —Dhani Mau, Editor in Chief
