For the first time in its 120 years of existence, Vogue  has featured a “muxe” – an indigenous transgender woman from Mexico – as a cover star. The image of Vasquez covers Mexican Vogue and is also featured inside British Vogue. {Independent}

Raf Simons speaks post-Calvin Klein
After leaving Calvin Klein, Raf Simons made his first public appearance in Antwerp, where he discussed his opinion on the state of the fashion system, the value behind a design and the importance of staying independent and supporting the new generation. Though Simons believes being independent allows him to express himself more freely, during the 35-minute talk he steered clear of any discussion of the Calvin Klein brand. {WWD}

What fashion can learn from Elizabeth Warren
Nina McLemore is the designer for some of the most powerful female leaders like Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton. McLemore dresses more chief executives, U.S. Supreme Court justices, politicians and news anchors than any other brand. Unfortunately, the same kinds of designs aren’t available to the masses. Most fashion companies aren’t creating merchandise suitable for professional roles and as a result, women struggle to find appropriate attire for work. {Vogue Business}

Fashion brands are hiring chief diversity officers
Fashion brands like H&M, Gucci and Prada have appointed chief diversity officers after receiving significant public backlash from recent mishaps involving race. For the industry, the role of chief diversity officer is relatively new and brands will often hire this person to save face or make amends. Over the years, the role has become even more crucial to meet customer and shareholder needs. {Vogue Business}
