What the Buyers Are Buying From the Fall 2022 Runways

Here’s what Bergdorf Goodman, Shopbop and more will be stocking next season.

According to designer womenswear buyers, the Fall 2022 shows were all about newness and fresh ideas.

New (or new-ish) designers at brands like Bottega Veneta, Alaïa and Prada drummed up excitement that buyers anticipate will get shoppers into stores (or get them clicking “add to cart”) come fall. Meanwhile, labels like Peter Do, Rokh, Saint Laurent and Courrèges wooed retailers with looks that felt especially current and modern, even if the inspiration was more classic or nostalgic.

From iconic French fashion houses to exciting up-and-coming American designers, read on to see what buyers at LCD, Bergdorf Goodman, Shopbop and Neiman Marcus are buying for fall.

Geraldine Chung, Founder and Buyer, LCD

Ahluwalia: “We’ll be bringing on London-based Ahluwalia, a young British designer whose Indian/Nigerian background has influenced this Fall 2022 collection with vibrant colors that reference both Bollywood and Nollywood films in a really polished way. I’m really excited to be one of the few American stores to carry her line!”

Peter Do: “Peter Do perfectly represents the emergence of a new modernism. This look is sensuous and sharp at the same time.”

Bottega Veneta: “Matthieu Blazy’s debut for Bottega Veneta was one of the most anticipated of shows of the season, and it didn’t disappoint. We love the luxe leather ready-to-wear (like this skirt in look 25), minimalist styling (another white tank opened the show) and must-have boots.”

Rokh: “Something that’s really been resonating with our customers is taking a more feminine spin on classic menswear pieces. Rokh is a brand taking menswear to a whole new level, twisting traditional items into modern, cool looks. This poplin menswear shirt under the corset dress look is the perfect embodiment of that.”
