And with that, we’ve concluded the final pit stop of fashion month: Paris Fashion Week. After spending time in New York, London and Milan — where models wore pristine red lips and sported avant-garde hairstyles — we’re ending in the city of love for the grand finale.

Over the past week, makeup artists and hairstylists took on a more subdued, Parisian-chic approach in comparison to the other fashion capitals. On the hair front, the dominant trend was simplicity: Models on the Chanel runway wore half-up, half-down looks accented by the house’s signature camellia; Leonard Paris incorporated tiny French braids into the beauty look. There were also some grittier approaches, though, like Off-White‘s metal ring accessories (which resembled hardware washers). But on the whole, stylists allowed models’ natural textures and individuality to shine.

Meanwhile, makeup was all about the eye this season. For the Louis Vuitton show, makeup artist Pat McGrath placed tiny mirrored appliqués beneath models’ lower lash lines for definition and as “a reflection of originality,” per the creative. For the Valentino runway, McGrath went a bit punk-y, creating a variety of black-rimmed eyeliner looks as “an exploration of extreme black eyeliner for continuity and disruption of the norm.” She complemented the edgy liner with jewels and faux facial piercings.
