The 22 Best Beauty Products Fashionista Editors Tried in June

Learn about licensing opportunities.

Each month, Fashionista editors try a *lot* of beauty products. And while not every formula we test is a winner, we’re constantly unearthing new favorites. Here, we’ve rounded up our latest hair, skin, fragrance, wellness and makeup discoveries — whether fresh-to-market drops or merely recent additions to our personal routines.

If team Fashionista were to write its own version of “How I Spent My Summer Vacation,” so far, it would include a whole lot of beauty testing. We spent the month of June doubling down on sun protection, trying out a variety of different formats, including SPF-spiked makeup primers, shimmer-infused sprays and even a whipped-cream-like mousse that’s a delight to use (and prank friends with).

In between slathering ourselves in all those sunscreens, we also discovered new favorite blushes, skin barrier-restoring serums and moisturizers, a lightweight full-coverage foundation and a mega-pigmented eye shadow stick.

Keep scrolling to see (and shop!) our new hair, skin, makeup, fragrance and wellness favorites.

Pat McGrath Labs Divine Blush: Legendary Glow Colour Balm, $29, available here: “The cream blush category is really booming right now, and this is another formula I’m completely enamored with at the moment. It layers beautifully, offering a sheer-but-buildable wash of pigment and that signature Pat McGrath lit-from-within finish.” —Stephanie Saltzman, Beauty Director

Summer Fridays ShadeDrops Mineral Milk Sunscreen SPF 30, $36, available here: “I’ve had a hard time finding face sunscreens that don’t feel greasy, but this lightweight liquid formula is unique. Its milky texture soaks in quickly, leaving a subtle sheen — but not a slimy, heavy feeling one.” —Brooke Frischer, Staff Writer

Ellis Brooklyn Bee Eau De Parfum, $108, available here: “Arguably the perfect summer perfume, Ellis Brooklyn’s Bee cuts sugary honey and vanilla with notes of dark rum and sandalwood. It’s that kind of warm and biting fragrance that I can’t get enough of.” —Liza Sokol, Sr. Audience Development Manager

E.l.f. cosmetics Suntouchable Whoa Glow Sunscreen SPF 30, $14, available here: “As a perpetually pale ginger, I rely on sunscreen year-round, but it’s my absolute lifesaver in the summer. This primer-meets-SPF — which was developed specifically to serve as a base layer under makeup — glides on easily without feeling slick or heavy. I also love that it creates a glow-y finish and allows me to skip highlighter.” —Catie Pusateri, Editorial Intern

About Face Shadowstick in Creature, $14, available here: “I like using this eye shadow stick from Halsey’s beauty brand for a pop of color on my bottom waterline. It really is one-swipe, pigmented coverage that lasts, and ‘Creature’ is such a beautiful shade of blue.” —LS

Vacation Classic Whip SPF 30 Sunscreen Mousse, $22, available here“This is one of the most fun beauty products I’ve ever tried (and not just because I’ve used it to prank my friends). It looks and dispenses pretty much exactly like canned whipped cream — but it’s a lightweight, whipped-texture sunscreen that smells delectable.” —Andrea Bossi, Staff Writer

Ilia Multi-Stick Cream Blush + Highlighter + Lip Tint in At Last, $36, available here: “I’m always on the hunt for a wearable blush that will give me just enough flush to look alive, but not too much that I look sunburnt. I’ve been using this multipurpose stick on both my cheeks and lips; the coverage is on the lighter side, but it’s easily buildable, so creating a customized look is simple.” —CP

Of Other Worlds Light Beams Barrier Treatment, $68, available here: “This slick, jelly-like serum is a sensorial delight to apply, and it’s packed with protective, hydrating, soothing and glow-giving ingredients like glycerin, ceramides, antioxidants, azelaic acid and licorice root. It’s the brainchild of esthetician and beauty editor Simedar Jackson, who founded their own indie skin-care brand after feeling ignored by the industry. Beauty editors know their shit — not that I’m biased or anything.” —SS

YSL Beauty All Hours Foundation, $60, available here: “I normally shy away from full-coverage foundation, but when I want my skin to look next-level even — like when attending a wedding or other special occasion — I turn to this formula. It’s surprisingly weightless, with a matte, but not chalky or flat, finish. I’ve worn it in hot, humid conditions and have been continually impressed by its staying power.” —SS

Tower 28 SOS Daily Barrier Recovery Cream, $24, available here: “Tower 28 is beloved for its calming, protective formulas that cater to sensitive (and sensitized) skin, and this latest addition to its SOS line became an instant favorite the first time I tried it. With a medium-weight, frosting-like texture and a combination of hyaluronic acid, ceramides and allantoin, the cream quenches and soothes skin without feeling heavy or greasy.” —SS

Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Dewy Long-Lasting Setting Spray, $38, available here: “I’m a dewy-not-matte girl through and through, and the combo of blue agave extract (the setting part) and hyaluronic acid and niacinamide (the hydrating part) in this primer means my makeup doesn’t slide off my face, but also doesn’t look shellacked on.” —LS

Rhode Glazing Milk, $29, available here: “Despite being skeptical that I really needed another ‘glazing’ product from Hailey Bieber, I’ve found myself hooked on her brand’s latest drop, a liquid-y essence that infuses skin with moisture, calms redness and lends beautiful slip for a quick little facial massage. It’s been a great lightweight addition to my summer skin-care routine.” —SS

Kosas DreamBeam Silicone-Free Mineral Sunscreen SPF 40 with Ceramides and Peptides, $40, available here: “This mineral sunscreen adds ceramides and peptides to the mix, giving it an almost primer-like quality that sits nicely under makeup.” —LS

Makeup by Mario Soft Pop Plumping Blush Veil, $30, available here: “I already wrote the long-winded version of why I love this blush, which you can read here. As for the short version? The texture, application and finish are all flat-out dreamy.” —SS

Clé de Peau Beauté UV Protective Cream SPF 50+, $140, available here: “Since starting to use sunscreen daily, I pay a lot of attention to the texture of formulas, their finish and how they blend with my makeup. This smooth cream feels luxurious, doesn’t leave a white cast and makes my skin feel soft.” —AB

U Beauty The Plasma Lip Compound Tinted in Fawn, $68, available here: “I’ve been a fan of U Beauty’s original Plasma Lip Compound since it launched because of its cushiony, smooth formula, the intense hydration it offers and the slight plumping effect. Now, the brand has introduced tinted versions, and I’m obsessed with Fawn, a warm, rosy beige with the slightest sheen. So comfy, so pretty!” —SS

Hero Rescue Balm +Red Correct Post-Blemish Recovery Cream, $12.99, available here: “Although I feel my most powerful as a Gemini in June, the heat seems to have a personal vendetta against my concealer. Instead of reaching for a full-coverage one this summer, I’ve been gravitating toward this lightweight color-correcting green cream that mitigates redness and lends the perfect my-skin-but-better effect.” —CP

FaceGym Active Blast Concentrated Collagen Daily Treatment, $68, available here: “When FaceGym introduced me to these little concentrated ‘blasts,’ I was immediately intrigued. The package comes with several spheres of concentrated collagen that, upon contact with a hyaluronic acid of your choosing, becomes a supercharged serum. (The format has been particularly helpful for traveling.) At first, the product can feel a little sticky, but it ultimately dries and leaves skin looking dewy and glow-y.” —BF

Cay Skin Isle Nourishing Body Mist SPF 50, $26, available here: “This spray-on sunscreen has saved the day multiple times when I’m rushing out and suddenly remember to apply. It also imparts a slight shimmer, which makes my legs look especially nice.” —AB

Look Organics Prebiotic Powder, $20, available here“When I’m a nutritional rut, I usually turn to a protein shake with fruit and a couple sprinkles of this powder. I’ve found that it really helps… get things moving and reduce bloating. Plus, it mixes in just as easy to water or juice.” —AB

Dr. Naomi Catfish Blurring Eye Cream, $85, available here: “As someone with pronounced under-eye bags, I pay a lot of attention to my eye creams, and I daresay I have never used one this good. The dense, rich formula keeps the area feeling moisturized all day, and I can see it literally smooth and blur away fine lines after I blend it in.” —AB

Yves Rocher The Oxygenating Hydrating Mask, $25 $13, available here“I’ve been using this gel-textured mask for about 30 minutes before I do my makeup, and I’ve noticed that my skin feels instantly softer and my makeup goes on more seamlessly.” —BF
