Monday night’s Emmy Awards ceremony was an unusual one, from the fact that it honored nearly-forgotten television performances from the previous year to that incredibly distracting red-carpet backdrop. Collectively, the evening’s fashion mood was also a bit odd: The Fashionista team found many of the looks underwhelming compared to other recent red carpets — but, luckily, there were a number of truly elegant, on-the-mark exceptions, even a few surprising sartorial risks that actually paid off.
