The 17 Best Beauty Products Fashionista Editors Tried in November

Each month, Fashionista editors try a *lot* of beauty products. And while not every formula we test is a winner, we’re constantly unearthing new favorites. Here, we’ve rounded up our latest hair, skin, fragrance, wellness and makeup discoveries — whether fresh-to-market drops or merely recent additions to our personal routines.

With the first snowfall of the season officially behind us, team Fashionista is bracing for chilly weather by bolstering our winter skin-care routines with rich moisturizers, ultra-hydrating serums and thick body creams to hoard as much moisture as possible.

This November, we reached for a colloidal oatmeal-powered eczema cream, a pomade-like retinoid ointment, a lightweight (and surprisingly non-sticky) snail mucin moisturizer and a firming K-beauty sheet mask delivering deep hydration amid New York City’s plunging temperatures. As for our makeup discoveries, a bronze-y tinted lip balm, a creamy medium-to-full-coverage concealer, a thick (but not clumpy) brow gel and a blurring baked setting powder topped our lists.

Below, see (and shop!) all of our top beauty finds from November.

Lenox & Sixteenth Soft Landing Smoothing Peptide Moisturizer, $149, available here: “This cushiony, rich-but-not-greasy cream was created by Miami medical aesthetician Amy Peterson, Lenox & Sixteenth’s founder, to help plump, strengthen, moisturize and calm skin. It’s spiked with dual-weight hyaluronic acid for hydration, bakuchiol and resveratrol for improved texture and radiance, and multiple peptides for firming and toning. Just a tiny dab goes a long way, and I’ve found that it’s the ideal product for keeping my combination skin calm and happy as the seasons change.” —Steph Saltzman, Beauty & Style Director

Anastasia Beverly Hills MicroStroke Detailing Brow Pen, $28, available here: “I had all but given up on brow pens and pencils, having never found one that’s easy to use (precise detailing is not a makeup strength of mine) and actually makes my (very) sparse brows look fuller in a natural way, until Anastasia sent me its newest launch. Something about the ‘micro-fine’ point and overall design allow me to draw on ultra-thin, natural-looking strokes with just the right amount of pigment, with very little effort. I also love that it comes in nine shades so you can find the closest match for an undetectable result.” —Dhani Mau, Editor in Chief

Dr.G Black Snail Cream, $23 $17, available here: “I recently had an incredible microcurrent facial by Dupi founder Christina Kim that was game-changing for tension relief. In addition to the the amazing muscle release, my skin also felt smooth and refreshed, thanks in large part to this Snail Cream that Kim used. Compared to other snail mucin products, this moisturizer is anything but sticky, and it’s surprisingly lightweight. I’ve kept using it in the weeks since that treatment, and my skin has regained the radiance the cold November air took away.” —Brooke Frischer, Associate Editor & Social Media Manager

Keys Soulcare Comforting Tinted Lip Balm in Bronze Aura, $18, available here: “I’m quite picky when it comes to my lip balms. They can’t be so lightweight that they’re ineffective, but also not so thick that they’re sticky and feel like goop. So I feel like I hit the jackpot when I got my hands on this tinted one: It’s deeply moisturizing and incredibly buildable. I only need to apply a couple of swipes to keep my lips smooth and soft all day. I mainly wear it solo, but the sheer wash of color works well when paired with lip liner, too.” —Janelle Sessoms, Staff Writer

Saie Slip Tint Undetectable Baked Setting Powder, $32, available here: “Powder is quite the frenemy to my oily skin. I need it to lock in my makeup before it slips off my face, but one too many swipes can quickly turn cakey. However, this baked formula smooths and blurs my skin (without sacrificing a natural-looking glow) thanks to a combination of hyaluronic acid, squalane, jojoba esters, hectorite and silica. For reference, my Halloween makeup look magically survived a very sweaty night club while still maintaining a fresh, dewy complexion.” —Catie Pusateri, Staff Writer

Numbuzin No.9 NAD+ Bio Lifting Sheet Mask, $18 $14, available here: “During a shopping spree at Olive Young in Seoul, I picked up a few of Numbuzin’s best-selling sheet masks. But this one with NAD+ (an ingredient currently trending across the industry for its potential cell turnover benefits) and a thoughtfully designed sheet (cut to prevent the mask from slipping or sagging) became an instant favorite. It was particularly impactful post-flight, when my skin was in dire need of immediate hydration and rejuvenation.” —Brooke

M.ph Lip Ciggy Sheer Lipstick Balm in Overdrive, $26, available here: “The anti-cigarette campaigns of my childhood really worked on me, because to this day I will never be convinced that smoking is cool. But this new ‘lip ciggy’ — a tinted lip balm housed in an elegantly slim tube that’s roughly the size of a Marlboro — has my attention nonetheless. I love the sheer, non-waxy formula and teeny surface area of the bullet, which makes for precise and discreet application. My favorite shade is Overdrive, a pink-y, taupe-y brown that takes my natural lip tone up a notch.” —Steph

Thirsty Cowboy Brow Dough, $22, available here: “I’ve spent a long time rehabilitating my early 2000s-ravaged brows, so at this point, they’re pretty full on their own. But that also means they’re unruly; this thick gel holds each hair in place but goes on completely clear and without a stiff, weirdly shiny finish. I love that it also doesn’t completely erase the fluffiness I like — it just reins it in a touch.” —Steph

VI Derm Gentle Purifying Cleanser, $44, available here: “When you get a VI Peel — one of my favorite treatments for the many types of hyperpigmentation I deal with — you’re sent home with a handy little kit of products to use while your skin heals, including this antioxidant-boosted cleanser, which I liked so much I got a full-size bottle. It’s gentle and soothing so it won’t strip your skin, but it also gives a genuinely thorough cleanse, and contains willow bark to gently buff away dead skin cells that can clog pores. Basically, it’s exactly what my acne-prone-yet-dry-and-slightly-sensitive skin needs in a daily cleanser.” —Dhani

Cassatt La Pommade Retinoid Skin Ointment, $72, available here: “The inaugural product from Cassatt, beauty editor and podcaster Carlene Higgins‘ new skin-care brand, is a pommade-like ointment, true to its name. (Beauty editors know how to describe things!) It’s intended for those over the age of 40, taking a ‘low and slow’ approach to retinoids. That means it relies on a blend of retinyl acetate (a gentle retinoid), ceramide NP (a moisturizing barrier supporter), arnica (a soothing agent) and hyaluronic acid in oil (an innovative delivery system for hydration), all packed into an occlusive formula to seal everything in. Even though I’m not quite in the age bracket for the product yet, I’m loving it. (It’s also gorgeous for the backs of the hands!)” —Steph

LYS Beauty Bright Start Creamy Airbrush Concealer, $24, available here: “LYS Beauty’s complexion products are on another level, and its newest concealer is no different. Formulated with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, ashwagandha and green tea extract to hydrate and calm the skin, its creamy concealer delivers buildable medium-to-full coverage without feeling heavy. Its sponge-tip applicator also adds a touch of airbrush-level artistry to my makeup routine for a lightweight, seamless finish.” —Catie

111Skin Rose Gold Illuminating Eye Mask (Pack of 8), $115, available here: “I’ve been traveling a lot over the last few months. Therefore, November has pretty much been one big game of catch-up for my body and overall health. As a result, my skin has taken a bit of a hit — specifically my undereyes. To disguise the obvious signs of extreme tiredness, these eye masks have been a game-changer. The formula includes pomegranate seed, which has natural brightening properties that are key when it comes to reducing the appearance of dark circles.” —Brooke

Nécessaire The Body Wash Multi-Oil, $42 $34, available here: “There’s something about this body wash that feels so luxurious: perhaps the generously sized bottle, the elevated and refreshing Cyprès-Citronné scent or the multi-benefitical ingredients — niacinamide, vitamin-rich plant oils, hydrating glycerin and more — which result in the most satisfying rich lather.” —Dhani

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration, $38, available here: “Managing my eczema-prone skin is a full-time job once the cooler months hit, and colloidal oatmeal quickly becomes my best friend. First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Cream is my skin’s wintertime savior, as I slather on clumps of the rich formula to soothe my dry, flaky skin. It’s also packed with shea butter to moisturize and allantoin to soothe, which helps ward off angrier flare-ups before they manifest.” —Catie

Badesofa Back Bath Pillow, $199 $179, available here: “As someone who deals with chronic pain, it can be extremely uncomfortable at times to do something as simple as stand in a shower. Baths have never been much of a solution to that problem, given that standard tubs are not exactly built for comfort either. I was recently introduced to Badesofa, which makes water- and heat-resistant pillows, blankets and more accessories to create a more supportive bath experience. This back pillow has not only made the bath a more accessible option, but also an enjoyable one.” —Brooke

Clearstem VitaminScrub Exfoliating Cleanser, $48, available here: “I squeezed out the very last drop of this cleanser recently, and it genuinely made me sad. I’ve been loving the exfoliating formula as the second step in my face routine for the last several months. Whenever I have stubborn bumps or sudden breakouts, all it takes is a dime-sized amount of this product — which is spiked with bamboo powder to offer gentle skin sloughing — before bed a few times a week to resolve them.” —Brooke

Pacha Soap Co. Vanilla & Sage Soap Bar, $7 $6, available here: “Even though it costs less than $10, this gem is truly a luxury for my body-care routine. It has a nice lather while keeping my skin well moisturized (an impressive feat since my body dries super quickly during these cooler months). But my favorite part is the scent: Powered by notes of vanilla, lavender and sage, the fragrance is sweet (but not overly so), with just the right amount of floral that doesn’t make it too spring-coded.” —Janelle

In case you missed last month’s picks, you can find them here:

Lore Lovely and a Little Twisted Eau de Parfum, $88, available here: “Chic new indie fragrance brand Lore pulled me in with its elevated packaging and clever scent names, but it really hooked me with this juice: a warm floral (not usually my thing) that melds patchouli, rose milk and pistachio for a complex, layered effect that’s intriguing, yet subdued.” —Steph Saltzman, Beauty & Style Director
