Showgoers Wore Tough, Utilitarian Layers on Day 1 of Paris Fashion Week

Take notes for your next moto jacket.
Paris Fashion Week marks the final stretch of what is really fashion month. Editors, buyers and other leaders are ready to attend the grand finale of shows, but not without a style showdown on the rues outside. Day one of this season’s street style kicked off in high gear thanks to tough, utilitarian layers.
We saw a variety of gritty layers and workwear inspired looks. One showgoer paired an oversized varsity jacket worn with hiking boots, while another style star wore cargo pants with sneakers and a cropped jacket with huge, handy pockets on the front. Following the motorcore trend that’s been slowly taking over, biker jackets and leather trench coats were plentiful. But a pair of leather overalls tucked inside cow-patterned knee-high boots may have been the most interesting to look at. Fearlessness and cool reign on the Parisian streets.
The beautiful thing about utilitarian looks is that comfort is almost guaranteed. Plus, there are probably pockets to store your phone, essentials… and a croissant for an afternoon snack, too. The touches of leather we saw add an air of effortlessness. For long days in the city of lights, fashion insiders are opting for ultimate mix of cool and function.
