On Monday evening, the 2019 Fashion Awards — formerly known as the British Fashion Awards and revamped to rival the annual Met Gala and CFDA Awards in New York — welcomed the industry’s biggest names and stylish celebrities to the Royal Albert Hall in London. Attendees included Julia Roberts, Alexa Chung, Naomi Campbell and so many more. This year’s host was Tracee Ellis Ross, who led the night in five showstopping outfits: a Loewe white handkerchief dress; a multi-colored floral-printed cape dress by Richard Quinn; a green and black brocade ruffled number by Erdem; a Gucci gown dipped in sequins; and a festive, blood-red Simone Rocha dress.

Before Ellis Ross stole the sartorial spotlight, the red carpet was glittering proof that London is incredibly skilled at getting dressed up. The looks were tastefully festive, with just the right amount of feathers and sparkle. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley shimmered in gold embellished backless Bottega Veneta gown, as did Donatella Versace in a hot pink metallic dress. Lily James was in a Fall 2019 Valentino Haute Couture look that featured a giant gilded bow while Rihanna, who later accepted her first-ever fashion award for Fenty, arrived in a puffy mint green confection that she designed herself.
