These are the stories making headlines in fashion on Thursday.

Tina Turner’s impact on fashion
On Wednesday, iconic singer Tina Turner passed away at 83. The rock ‘n’ roll and R&B singer broke down barriers as a Black woman in the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s, while developing a signature style on the fashion front. She challenged fashion unlike any other female artists of her time and worked closely with designers such as Bob Mackie and Azzedine Alaïa. “She came closer than perhaps any of her peers to articulating through clothes the yearning for independence, rebellion and danger that the music of that time embodied,” wrote Rachel Tashjian for The Washington Post. {The Washington Post}

Adidas struggles to regroup after Yeezy
After Adidas dissolved its multibillion-dollar partnership with Yeezy, the company experienced financial collapse as it lost footing in target markets and saw a 40% decrease in profits. According to Bloomberg, around $1.3 billion worth of unsold Yeezys is sitting in inventory. Adidas management has finally decided to sell the remaining pairs and give a portion of the sale proceeds to charity. As the company scrambles to financially stabilize, it’s forecasted Adidas will lose more than $700 million this year. So how should Adidas move forward? Huge discounts and a rebrand. “Adidas needs a complete overhaul after the Yeezy disaster,” said Janne Werning, head of ESG capital markets and stewardship at German shareholder Union Investment. “After these lost years, [Adidas CEO Bjørn] Gulden has a lot of work ahead of him.” {Bloomberg/paywalled}
