Revisit the icon’s ’90s off-screen style.

There are perfectly good celebrity style moments, and then there are the looks that really stick with you, the ones you try desperately to recreate at home. In ‘Great Outfits in Fashion History,’ Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time favorite lewks.
Anyone who’s a fan of ’90s fashion will have their own favorite Julia Roberts moment. From playing Anna Scott in “Notting Hill” to portraying Vivian Ward with those shiny knee-high boots in “Pretty Woman,” she has donned many a memorable outfit. But her off-screen fashion was equally impeccable.
In the above image, Roberts attends the 1999 New York premiere of “Stepmom,” in which she plays the protagonist, Isabel Kelly. Ensuring that all eyes were on her, she channeled timeless elegance in a pink strapless gown that oozes glamour. The dress features a fitted bodice that accentuates her curves, while the flowing pencil skirt adds a touch of drama and movement. She layered on an exaggerated fuzzy black bolero on top for contrast, giving the look an edge, and accessorized simply with black sandals, a pink pedicure and understated diamond earrings.
On the hair front, Roberts’ wavy tresses were styled into an elegant updo. She added a splash of color to her makeup with bright-blue eyeshadow. The overall effect was a perfect mix of sophistication and rebellion.
