The Spring 2026 season has been packed with memorable runways and creative director debuts (with more still to come in Paris), but in the midst of fashion month chaos, team Fashionista still found time to update our closets.
In honor of the official start to the fall season, our editors reached for an oversized cotton sweater, a cozy cropped coat and relaxed low-rise denim. As we recovered from all things fashion week, loungewear staples like a cashmere-blend hoodie, sporty track pants and a matching knit set reigned supreme. Our accessories were especially chic, with a cow-print purse, two-tone ear cuffs and a chocolate suede tote bag accenting this month’s ensembles.
Ahead, see (and shop!) all of our favorite fashion finds from September.
Gap 100% Cotton Oversized Sweater, $80 $63, available here: “I owe all credit for the discovery of this literally perfect sweater to Mairin on Tiktok and her meticulously documented search for oversized crewnecks that cost less than her luxury favorite (The Row’s Ophelia). And I owe Gap props for making it with 100% cotton instead of the synthetics plaguing most affordable knits on the market. It’s cozy-yet-lightweight (perfect for L.A. ‘fall’) and drapes perfectly (I sized up for a little extra roominess). It also comes in the best colors — I have it in navy and army jacket green, and I’m still considering the toasted almond brown.” —Dhani Mau, Editor in Chief
Rails Melanie Jacket in Dark Brown, $388, available here: “Why is it so difficult to find jackets that are cozy but not bulky? I can’t answer that, but I can say that this boxy, slightly cropped coat is a nice anomaly. I’m guessing that the 51:49 ratio of wool to polyester is what makes that possible. I like that it’s structured, but not blazer-like, and the black contrast stitching makes it a little more interesting. And there’s something about black and brown together that I always find so appealing.” —Steph Saltzman, Beauty & Style Director
Meilleur Moment Casual Zip Hoodie, $169, available here: “While in New York, I checked out the Nolita location of this Chinese brand and was so impressed with the quality and affordability. Specifically, the label has some cashmere pieces with unbelievable price tags, like this knit cashmere-blend hoodie. It’s so soft, lightweight and perfect for cozy season.” —Savannah Sitton, Market & Branded Content Editor
Alohas Nylon Brown Leather Sneakers, $190, available here: “I took a chance and went outside my comfort zone by picking up a pair of lilac-and-butter-yellow accented sneakers, instead of my usual neutrals. But let me tell you, it was a risk worth taking. These sneakers have carried so many of my outfits lately. I hardly ever need to accessorize or do elaborate styling since the shoes do so much of the heavy lifting. And yes, they’re comfortable, too.” —Janelle Sessoms, Staff Writer
Alice + Olivia Carolee Argyle Cardigan, $595, available here: “I often shy away from bright red pieces on account of my auburn hair, but this cropped argyle cardigan immediately caught my eye. It strikes the perfect balance between a ‘Clueless’ homage and collegiate chic, making it versatile enough to pair with a preppy pleated skirt or relaxed denim.” —Catie Pusateri, Staff Writer
Gap Low Rise ’90s Loose Jeans, $80, available here: “Well, the low-rise epidemic finally got me. I’m not sure if it was Hailey Bieber or Katseye that finally made me pull the trigger, but Gap felt like the perfect re-entry point to the denim silhouette I hadn’t embraced since the 2000s. This particular style is actually quite comfortable thanks to the relaxed fit and subtle stretch. I also love the simplicity of this deep indigo color, and the fact that Gap offers almost everything in petite sizing.” —Dhani
Every Other Thursday Off-Track Shorts, $54, available here: “I spent a good chunk of September attempting to make myself look presentable for fashion week events, which made me crave laid-back loungewear even more than I normally do (which is already a lot). Enter: These perfect old-school soccer-style shorts. The brand says they’re inspired by the ’80s, but they’re also giving flawless what-my-friends’-older-brothers-wore-in-the-late-’90s energy. (Just, you know, more fitted and wearable for adults who haven’t actually been near a soccer field since middle school.) I love how the brand styles them with a cashmere cardi and ballet flats on its site and can’t wait to wear them the same way.” —Steph
Uniqlo x JW Anderson Oxford Boxy Cropped Shirt, $40, available here: “I finally got my hands on a JW Anderson x Uniqlo button-down, and I can’t believe I didn’t prioritize this snag earlier. Historically, button-downs have looked odd on me, either not complementing my figure or having weird puckering. This shirt, however, fits me like a charm: It has a boxy fit, leaving plenty of space (and no puckering!), while its cropped hem prevents it from swamping my frame. I already know this shirt will be a fall staple.” —Janelle
Jenny Bird Leona Ear Cuff Set, $118, available here: “I’ve been flirting with the idea of earscaping, but I’m not quite ready to pull the trigger on multiple new piercings. Jenny Bird’s ear cuffs, however, offer the studded look I’m seeking without any aftercare. This two-tone set boasts organically-shaped, comfortable cuffs in high-polish silver and 14k gold to either wear separately, or pair together for the best of both worlds.” —Catie
Uniqlo Washable Knit Ribbed Polo Sweater, $50, available here and Pants, $40, available here: “I’m always looking for the perfect comfortable-yet-elevated airplane outfit and I’m so glad I came across this Uniqlo set right before my trip to NYC. Not only was it ideal for the six-hour flight, but it also kept me feeling cozy and presentable during the subsequent hours-long landing detour/borderline hostage situation at JFK, and the ensuing 24 hours I spent in Manhattan without any of my luggage. (It’s a long story, but let’s just say I’m in a fight with Jet Blue.) Also, love that this fabric is machine washable!” —Dhani
Reformation Julien Poplin Pant in Forest, $198, available here: “Apparently I’ve been feeling very Sporty Spice lately, because track pants were also in heavy rotation in my wardrobe in September. I wore this lightweight poplin pair with a puff-sleeved blouse and heeled boots for a marathon day of back-to-back meetings and events, and received a shocking number of compliments on them. Plus, I got to be super comfy the whole time — win/win.” —Steph
Sézane Gary Bag, $370, available here: “There are few things more practical than a classic bucket bag. Sézane sees the silhouette’s reliability, and raises a chic, crocodile-embossed iteration named ‘Gary’ (because who’s more practical than Gary?). The chocolate brown bag snaps closed with a magnet, sports a zipped patch pocket inside and fits everything from a water bottle to my many lip combos.” —Catie
Ugg Cheetah Tasman Caspian, $135, available here: “It’s been some years since I’ve invested in a new pair of Uggs, and these really were worth the jump. The classic Tasman clog silhouette is both walkable and comfortably warm. I’m in love with this deep chocolate hue of the leopard-printed ponyhair.” —Savannah
Dissh Noah Black Short Sleeve Ruffle Mini Dress, $193 $135, available here: “There’s simply no such thing as owning too many little black dresses. This cute gem is a great day-to-night piece, perfect for wearing in its relaxed, oversized fit while working from home, and then cinching it with a belt when heading out to after-work events.” —Janelle
Arezzo Farrah Low Stiletto Leather Boot, $199, available here: “These caramel brown leather boots were quite the compliment magnet this fashion week. The pointed-toe silhouette instantly elevated my show-going ‘fits, and the low stiletto heel thankfully didn’t make my feet want to fall off while running around the city. I especially love the organic-shaped gold embellishment for a modern touch of sparkle.” —Catie
Frame The Collegiate in Galactic, $348, available here: “Baggy jeans aren’t normally considered polished or professional, but this pair — which comes in a medium-dark wash, with a high rise, rigid denim and a crisp-looking center pleat treatment — upends that theory. And they’re currently on sale for 25% off, you’re welcome!” —Steph
Lambert Cacao Suede Tote Bag, $160, available here: “I’d been on the hunt for a suede tote, and I found myself drawn to this one’s unique silhouette and soft finish, which makes me feel oh-so-chic and expensive. But it’s the spaciousness that’s why I’m never letting it go: I can throw in all my essentials — headphones, keys, book, makeup products — with little bulk and plenty of room to spare.” —Janelle
Tuckernuck Sandstone Cotton Cliff Crewneck Sweater, $248, available here: “I fell in love with this chunky knit on a visit to Tucknernuck’s new Upper East Side store, and it’s quickly become a transitional dressing staple for me. It’s thick and cozy, but because it’s 100% cotton, it’s also airy and breathable, not sweat-inducing. It feels a little preppier than I’d normally go, with a crew neck and pale beige color, but I don’t see any problems with appearing like a well-to-do Nantucket local.” —Steph
Madewell The Mylie Shoulder Bag, $228, available here: “I had my eye on this bag from Madewell when it sold out. Luckily, it came back in stock just in time for my New York Fashion Week trip. I love the carryall shape and the oversized shoulder silhouette; the interior is roomy, so it’s perfect for toting a lot of stuff around. The big sack is also outfitted with an interior zippered pouch, where I keep my wallet and valuables. And of course, I love the texture of the cowhide print on the pony hair leather.” —Savannah
Knix Cotton Rib Scoop Bralette, $45, available here: “I avoid an underwire at all costs, so this ultra-soft cotton bralette from Knix has quickly emerged as my go-to bra. The ribbed fabric offers a comfortably lightweight fit, and the adjustable straps rest easily on my shoulders without digging into my skin. I’m also in love with this limited-edition espresso colorway that matches all of my chocolate brown fall sweaters.” —Catie
Bare by Reva Max Boost Inserts, $55, available here: “I’ve tried many sticky bras and nipple covers, but these are the first stick-on cups I’ve found that deliver on their promise to create a push-up lift. The pads are thick (that’s the ‘max boost’ part) and sculpted for a natural shape. I love that they’re sticky on both sides, so they also hold your top in place. I wore them to a concert, and despite all my sweating and dancing, they remained firmly on my skin all night and kept my top exactly where it should be.” —Savannah
Finesse Zila Black Suiting Hourglass Blazer, $69, available here: “This fit-and-flare blazer exudes ‘office siren’ without the trip to HR. I’ll always love a boxy blazer, but this hourglass silhouette emphasizes the garment’s tailoring in all the right ways. Pair it with some black wide-leg trousers, and you’ve got the power suit moment of my dreams.” —Catie
Lola Blankets x Tezza Barton Large Olive Throw Blanket, $299, available here: “This heavy-weighted, insanely soft furry blanket is indeed worth the hype: I got the best night’s sleep with this it, staying cozy and warm but not at all stuffy or overheated. This month, the buzzy brand collaborated with Tezza Barton on this warm olive color for fall.” —Savannah
