There’s nothing more satisfying than knowing that chicness lies beneath your high-waisted jeans.
Everyone wears underwear, and we’ve done so for most of our existence. I can track the cycles of my life through what I underwear I wore. I had a set of seven from Old Navy for each day of the week when I was in kindergarten; a few Juicy Couture Valentine’s Day-themed boyshorts that took me through third grade; and a glittered range from Victoria’s Secret Pink that were purchased on middle school mall outings.
When I ask my friends or colleagues about what underwear brands they turn to now, many say they are still living off worn Hanky Pankys that they’ve collected over the years. Often times, their responses are frustrated — like they have somehow failed their adult selves by continuing to wear the lace-y, cherry-covered bits of cotton that they wore in college.
I’ve had those same frustrations, and even it made it one of my goals for this year to overhaul my intimates drawer, since thought does go into picking out a pair of underwear, even if it’s sometimes dismissed as a thoughtless process. There’s the panty line debacle, the issue of comfort, as well as the risk of wearing a sheer dress and having your co-workers — or worse, subway creatures — see what’s underneath. Plus, there’s nothing more satisfying than knowing that chicness lies beneath your high-waisted jeans.
