We Already Have a Color of the Year for 2025

Trend forecasting company WGSN and its sister company, the color system Coloro, announced their prediction for 2025’s Color of the Year: “Future Dusk,” a dark, mysterious marriage of deep violet and midnight blue.

In a statement, WGSN describes the color as having a sense of “escapism, and feeds into themes of transition — whether it be moving from dark to light, or dusk to dawn — making it perfect for a period of immense change.” It’ll trend at the most ideal time, if their predictions are correct: According to astrological trends, Saturn having moved into Pisces just a few months ago (and remaining there until 2026) will allow room for more growth and development in many of our lives.

Future Dusk also falls in line with the ever-growing fascination with the space economy and topics like space tourism and asteroid mining, making the hue representative of an industry that, according to WGSN, “is slated to mint the world’s first trillionaire” — a potentially groundbreaking moment in history.

“In the near future, the lines between reality and fantasy will become more blurred than ever,” said Urangoo Samba, WGSN’s head of color, in a statement. “Future Dusk is an immersive and transformative color, aligned with this direction.”

With this in mind, the forecasting group also argues the color will see success in metallic finishes, creating a “celestial allure.”

Though there’s plenty of time between now and 2025 for a new shade to take over, WGSN claims that it has a 90% accuracy rate in predicting trends. Until that semi-distant year comes, we’ll be keeping a watchful eye on the colors that capture the spotlight.
