Editors’ Picks are the Fashionista team’s true (#notspon) fashion and beauty obsessions, handpicked by professionals who see it all. Any beauty product you see here has been vetted and tested by the editor recommending it.

At this point, do any of us have time (or space in our brimming makeup bags) for products that aren’t multitaskers? I know I don’t. I’m all about building a routine centered on beauty overachievers, and if those overachievers also require no more than 10 seconds to flawlessly apply, all the better. That’s certainly the case with Chanel’s Baume Essentiel Multi-Use Glow Stick, which has gone viral time and time again — for good reason, I recently discovered.

Despite having heard so many glowing reviews (pun intended) of this product, I’d for some reason been sleeping on it until recently. The moisturizing, shimmer-laden balm has officially become a daily go-to, whether I’m doing a full face of makeup or choosing to wear it with nothing other than sunscreen and brushed brows. As its name implies, it’s intended for multiple uses: as a highlighter, eye shadow and even lip enhancer.

It’s the balm-like texture — which is neither too slippery nor too sticky — that allows it to layer so well with other makeup and skin-care products and feel comfortable on all these different areas of the face. It seems to almost melt into skin, making its glow become one with your complexion, rather than sitting atop it. And it never appears overtly glittery or even shimmery; there’s a luminosity that catches the light without reading as sparkle.

My preferred shade is “Sculpting,” a pearly, beige-tinged champagne that’s an ideal glow-enhancing complement for my skin tone. It can be swiped on with a brush, directly from the tube, or with your finger (my preferred MO) in just a few seconds. The result is a dewy, moisturized-looking finish that’s subtle, buildable and just so pretty. No matter what else is going on with my complexion or how haggard I may be looking otherwise, I’ve found that when I wear this, I get compliments on my skin, almost without fail.
