These Pre-Fall 2025 Trends Reveal What Fashion Has In Store for Next Year

Designers have been steadily dropping their Pre-Fall 2025 lookbooks over the last few weeks of 2024. From European luxury houses like Chanel and Gucci, to beloved indie labels like Ganni and Kallmeyer, they’re providing a fresh influx of trends that hint at how we’ll be dressing in the new year.

As always, there’s some carryover of trends that emerged earlier this year, including animal prints and sophisticated suiting. (“Office Siren” is seemingly here to stay.) Brands are also clearly picking up on the boho revival that Chemena Kamali helped introduce on recent Chloé runways (and front rows).

Love it or hate it, it also won’t surprise you to learn that “Mocha Mousse” — and its adjacent shades of brown and beige — is one of the most popular color choices for Pre-Fall 2025. Still, “quiet luxury” seems to be loosening its grip on the industry, with several designers also bringing in bold hues like pink and green (the “Wicked” effect?) and attention-grabbing prints inspired by scarves and tapestries.

Before the Fall 2025 shows kick off in *checks watch* …one month, peruse the biggest Pre-Fall 2025 fashion trends below.

Mocha Mousse

Pantone’s 2025 Color of the Year announcement may not have been very well-received online, but designers had clearly already committed to using the pale brown in their pre-fall collections. In fact, very few of them didn’t work with some version of Mocha Mousse, meaning there will be no shortage of understated neutrals to shop next summer.

Animal Instincts

Leopard print steadily grew in popularity this year, both on and off the runways. Designers like Balmain and Roberto Cavalli are ensuring it keeps going strong into 2025, while Ulla Johnson and Moschino are bringing other species, like zebras and cows, into the conversation.

Brooches with Charm

Chaotic customization” is going luxury, with many designers incorporating various pins and baubles into their collections and lookbook styling. On the kitschier side are Alessandro Michele’s playful Valentino charms (the cats!) and vintage-inspired sparklers, while Brandon Maxwell’s purist metal brooches are sure to be coveted by minimalists.

Not-Barbie Pink

We can no longer associate designers’ pink obsession with the mid-2010s “Millennial Pink” phenomenon or 2023’s “Barbie”-fueled craze. Perhaps it’s simply a delightful color that’s selling well at the moment. Perhaps some of the trend’s continuation can also be attributed to 2024’s most aggressively promoted blockbuster film…

“Wicked” (or “Brat”?) Green

Alongside pink, the prominent use of bright and/or sparkly greens across Pre-Fall 2025 collections supports the “Wicked”-inspired theory. That said, 2024 was also the year of “Brat” green, so it’s tough to say for sure.

Not-so-Grungy Plaid

Tim Walz may be have been 2024’s biggest plaid enthusiast, but today’s designers offer fresh, more elevated takes on the pattern — from chic neutral suiting at Ferragamo to feminine eveningwear at Markarian.

Scarf Prints

Another style of pattern for which designers presented a wide array of interpretations: scarf prints, from Etro’s bandana-like motif, to Carolina Herrera’s quilt-like patterns, to Moschino’s patchworked silks, to the nostalgic paisleys at Rixo and Rabanne.

Suits and Sets for Summer

On the more practical side of things, designers are betting that a lot of you are busy ladies who just need a good power suit or matching set to help them look put-together with minimal effort. Fittingly for summer delivery, you’ll find sophisticated short sets at Max Mara and Ferragamo, as well as capris and skirts at Ganni and Nanushka. Go with something understated via Kallmeyer or By Malene Birger, or bold and glamorous via Chanel or Valentino.

The Anti-Cold Shoulder

This trend seems to exist at the intersection of the emerging boho revival and the obsession designers have had recently with distinctive shoulder-draping concepts. Where shoulder cutouts once reigned supreme, designers are now going to the opposite extreme, displaying ample coverage in that particular area. It can be seen via Edwardian-esque bib collars at Batsheva and Ulla Johnson, caped silhouettes at Markarian and Valentino and bow-like shoulder wraps at Huishan Zhang and By Malene Birger.

Stripes of All Types

Going back to a classic, stripes are becoming more and more ubiquitous, and for pre-fall there are oh so many to choose from: Makarian’s dainty candy stripes, Stella McCartney’s rugby style, Aknvas’s classic pinstripes in playful silhouettes and more.

Louche Lace

Also aligning with the boho resurgence, lace accents bring a touch of romance and sensuality to designs by Victoria Beckham, Rabanne, Loveshackfancy and more, offering toned-down, borderline grungy alternatives to full-blown naked dressing.
