New York Fashion Week officially started on Friday, and the street style crowd made sure to wear their best animal prints while attending the first day of shows, including Rag & Bone, Tomo Koizumi, Jeremy Scott and No Sesso.

From zebra stripes to python prints, and everything in between, it’s an unwritten sartorial rule that these eye-catching motifs are a hit when it comes to street style. Not only do they add an extra pop to any outfit, but they can act as a neutral, too. We spotted a few showgoers layer different prints into one outfit, or pair their favorite with another equally eye-catching garment for a whole statement look. And since it’s only the beginning of fashion week, we expect to see plenty more of stylish takes with animal prints.
