The Leather Jacket Trends to Invest in Now, According to the Runways

Whether real or faux, the power of a leather jacket is unmatched, imbuing an effortlessly cool vibe while being versatile enough to wear with almost any ensemble. And designers seem to agree, as leather jackets of all types were seen throughout Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 collections. They may be a perennial staple, but trends evolve from season to season, and we’ve identified a few specific leather outerwear styles poised to dominate the fashion landscape into next year.

Looking at Spring 2025 collections, designers including Prada, Coach and Ralph Lauren drew inspiration from vintage designs with distressed-effect leather in various silhouettes. Utilitarian pockets were also popular among heavy-hitting brands like Chanel and Louis Vuitton, for both function and form. Saint Laurent and Peter Do, meanwhile, favored oversized bomber silhouettes.

For something a touch more poised, tailored leather jackets and blazers are also on the rise. Acne Studios and Diesel, for instance, elevated their usual grunge aesthetic with cropped and collared leather jackets that feel sophisticated. As far as color trends, all shades of brown were spotted at Hermès, Chloe, Versace and Coach.

Of course, there were also plenty of classic moto or biker jackets spotted at Loewe, Moschino and, of course, Alexander McQueen, which has long championed the edgy silhouette. Longline leather jackets, especially in trench coat silhouettes, also continue to be popular. (Try one over your pants-less look to be extremely on-trend.)
