As far as I’m concerned, it’s always hand-cream season. Between frequent hand washing, package opening and hours spent typing away each day, I’m hard on my hands year-round — but in the coldest, driest months (aka right now), things can become dire. And in a perfectly timed delivery, Drunk Elephant’s new Therabu Hand Cream arrived on my desk a few weeks ago.

This medium-weight beige formula has quickly become my go-to daily hand cream. It’s intensely moisturizing — thanks to a packed lineup of hero ingredients including marula and shea butters, squalane, glycerin and avocado and jojobal oils — but it’s not one of those slippery, goopy types that interferes with your day. I also love the comforting faint vanilla scent and the fact that it’s spiked with oat kernel flower, which offers both soothing and protective antioxidant properties.

The brand even goes so far as to claim it continues moisturizing hands for 24 hours, and while I can’t exactly verify that myself, I do notice that my hands are significantly softer, smoother and more hydrated than they would normally be this time of year. My cuticles are far less tattered, too. (And that’s usually a real problem area for me.)
