Oh Cool, Timothée Chalamet Just Reinvented the Suit at the Venice Film Festival

Timothée Chalamet, rising Hollywood star, young heartthrob and sartorial boundary pusher, made waves with his look over the long weekend while attending the Venice Film Festival for the premiere of his upcoming film, “The King.” He walked the red carpet in an avant-garde silver suit by Haider Ackermann — but it wasn’t just any avant-garde silver suit

With a collarless shell beneath it, the tailored jacket was cinched with a double-banded belt for a futuristic, seamless silhouette. Chalamet then rolled up the pants into messy cuffs for an ultra-relaxed, no-one-could-pull-off-this-look-like-me-and-I-know-it vibe. His black ankle boots and (thankfully) grown-out rumpled hairstyle also lent a laid-back, unfussy effect.

In wearing this look, Chalamet seems to have single-handedly reinvented the suit and perceptions of what modern menswear can be. The internet, as it should have, freaked out. Photos of the actor flooded social media feeds, with fans lauding Chalamet for his futuristic (yet somehow also historial?) approach to fashion, appreciating his unconventional waist-cinching moment and likening the look to something out of Tilda Swinton‘s wardrobe.
