Skims completes funding round at $5 billion valuation

On Wednesday, Skims announced the completion of a $225 million capital raise, valuing the company at $5 billion. The financing round was led by Goldman Sachs Alternatives with participation from BDT & MSD Partners’ affiliated funds. Skims plans to use the investment to continue fueling its physical retail and international expansion efforts. The brand is expected to exceed $1 billion in net sales in 2025. {Fashionista inbox}

Authentic Brands Group is in talks to acquire Missoni

Authentic Brands Group is in exclusive negotiations to purchase the Missoni brand, WWD reported on Wednesday. If things go according to plan, a deal is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The Missoni family owns 58.8% of the shares of the company while an investor, Fondo Strategico Italiano, bought a 41.2% stake in 2018. Authentic was also in active negotiations to buy Marc Jacobs from LVMH, but negotiations ended recently as sources said LVMH is not currently seeking to sell the brand. {WWD/paywalled}

i-D Magazine names new global beauty editor-at-large

i-D Magazine appointed Colombian makeup artist Marcelo Gutierrez as its global beauty editor-at-large, effective immediately. Gutierrez will lead the publication’s first-ever beauty zine, a limited edition print product set to launch in early 2026, along with shaping i-D‘s beauty coverage across digital and print platforms. Gutierrez’s work spans editorial and celebrity, with clients including Troye Sivan, Rosalía, Bella Hadid, Paloma Elsesser and Madonna. {Fashionista inbox}

Kering and Mayhoola to inject €100 million into Valentino

Kering and Mayhoola have agreed to inject €100 million ($117 million) into Valentino to shore up the Italian fashion house’s finances after it breached loan covenants earlier this year. Valentino is controlled by holding company MFI Luxury Srl, in which Mayhoola holds a 70% stake and Kering owns the remaining 30%. MFI Luxury Srl agreed to inject the capital by Dec. 10 in two tranches, according to minutes from a shareholder meeting held on Oct. 16 reviewed by Reuters. {Reuters}

Men are finally buying skin care for themselves

Men are now actively buying skin care for themselves and gifting it, too. According to a 2025 study by Barclays Bank, Gen Z men represent the biggest spenders in the male beauty category, with 42% saying they devote a larger share of their income to grooming, ahead of millennials at 29%. Market research firm Allied Market Research also forecasts that the men’s skin-care segment will reach $16 billion by 2032, growing around 8% annually. {Glossy/paywalled}
