How will Ozempic affect the plus-size fashion industry?

Weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy have become increasingly popular among celebrities and influencers, but how will this rise in semaglutides (AKA weight loss drugs) impact plus-size brands? Glossy interviewed brand founders in the plus-size apparel space, and found that most agreed there hasn’t been a major impact yet, but they are following the data as the full impact of the drugs’ availability and use within the public is yet to be seen. “Considering that close to 70% of Americans are a size 14 or above, I don’t think we’ll see the true impact of Ozempic’s popularity for a while,” Ashley Full, founder of plus-size boutique Amour781, told Glossy. {Glossy/paywalled}

Why some retail has been resilient against Amazon

With Amazon offering nearly every product imaginable, it has positioned itself as major competition to smaller businesses across the country. However, certain indie stores spanning bicycles, photo equipment, records, resale and books have been resilient in the last couple decades because of the products they sell and how they sell them. Physical stores offer consumers a chance to try out products beforehand, which is difficult to achieve online. Consumers are also increasingly looking for personalized experiences that local stores can offer, such as book stores curating their inventories and hosting in-person events. {Retail Dive}
