Ever since announcing her engagement to Prince Harry, the world’s eyes have been fixed on Meghan Markle — and her style. We’ll be following the Meghan Markle Effect™ with our column, “Meghan Markle Wore a Thing.”
Meghan Markle just gave a lesson in refined summer formalwear. On Thursday, she attended the 2024 ESPY Awards alongside husband Prince Harry, who was recognized with the Pat Tillman Awards for Service for his work with the Invictus Games.
For the occasion, she wore a low-back white halterneck gown, styled minimally with a sleek center-parted bun and clean makeup by her go-to artist, Daniel Martin. There are conflicting reports on the designer ID for the look, with speculation being that it is a custom Oscar de la Renta piece — though some other outlets have identified it as a look from Staud‘s Spring 2024 ready to wear collection. Neither brand immediately responded to Fashionista’s request for verification. (It’s worth noting that the Staud version — which has three buttons at the back of the neck, while Markle’s does not — is currently on sale, for those wishing to scoop up a similar look.)

As for the other elements of the look, the internet has more confidently identified her strappy black sandals as Celine’s Sharp style, and her loopy, mixed-metal ring as the Cassandra style by Rodi.
