Lady Gaga's 'Joker: Folie à Deux' Press Tour Looks Are No Joke

When Lady Gaga arrived onto the mainstream music scene in 2008, she was known not just for her unique pop sound, but also for her eccentric style sensibilities, earning herself the title of a fashion star almost immediately. While Gaga’s bold approach to fashion has been a consistent element of her persona, she’s toned things down a bit in recent years. Now, with the press tour for “Joker: Folie à Deux,” it’s safe to say quintessential Gaga is back.

For the highly anticipated film’s Venice Film Festival premiere Sept. 4, Gaga arrived in a Christian Dior Haute Couture gown featuring a plunging structured corset and descended into a cylindrical pleated ballgown skirt. She paired it with an extravagant vintage headpiece by hat designer Philip Treacy. Isabella Blow, the late British fashion editor and muse of Treacy’s, wore the accessory once before, possibly inspiring Gaga (a fan of hers) to pull the archival piece.

On the red carpet for the movie’s London premiere Sept. 25, Gaga opted for method dressing. She wore a custom Celine by Hedi Slimane double satin faille dress with a matching balloon-sleeve bolero jacket in bright-cherry red. On the lapel, a 20-carat Tiffany & Co. Bird on a Rock brooch added a touch of sparkle to the monochromatic ensemble.

Taking the character work one step further, Gaga incorporated Harley Quinn-like glam with a red and black bob and bright teal graphic eyeshadow.

For another London appearance Sept. 26, the singer-turned-actor wore a black vintage-style floral mini-dress with a white lace collar, finishing the look with striped knee-high stockings, Marc Jacobs Kiki leather pumps and Celine square sunglasses.
