There are perfectly good celebrity style moments, and then there are the looks that really stick with you, the ones you try desperately to recreate at home. In ‘Great Outfits in Fashion History,’ Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time favorite lewks.
Once upon a time, Taylor Swift was an up-and-coming singer and, therefore, still a newbie when it came to red-carpet events. (Wild, I know.) In May 2008, the now-14-time Grammy winner was gearing up to release her sophomore album, “Fearless.” (It would later get her her first “Album of The Year” win.) Part of the lead-up included an appearance at the Met Gala — Swift’s first.
As Swifties know today, the “Fearless” record is centered around a yellow-gold color scheme, so it only made sense for the artist to put on her flashiest gilded dress for the event. The gown (designed by Badgley Mischka) played into the evening’s “Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy” theme, with its mermaid-like sequined pattern, making Swift look more princess-like than ever.

Swift kept her glam uncomplicated, wearing her signature blonde bouncy curls in a side-parted ‘do, complemented by a smokey cat eye and a nude lip. Oversized gold statement earrings and a gold satin clutch completed her ensemble.
It’s still unclear whether Swift will attend this year’s Met Gala, but you can find your own golden red-carpet-ready dress below.
