There are perfectly good celebrity style moments, and then there are the looks that really stick with you, the ones you try desperately to recreate at home. In ‘Great Outfits in Fashion History,’ Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time favorite lewks.
It’s safe to say brown has been having a moment. It was a mainstay of Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 runways, embraced by it-brands Miu Miu, Chloé, JW Anderson and more. And just this week, Pantone named “Mocha Mousse,” a pale, creamy version of the tone, its Color of the Year for 2025, solidifying the hue as fashion’s current favorite neutral.
It’s an easy, enduring alternative to black and feels particularly cozy this time of year. If you’re in need of inspiration for an outfit that will keep you warm while also helping you get a head start on one of 2025’s major color trends, look no further than a 1992 masterpiece monochrome look worn by Claudia Schiffer.
Backstage at a Norma Kamali show in 1992, Schiffer donned a look I’d gladly wear on any occasion December may bring, from running to the grocery store to a holiday party or dinner. Her all-brown outfit included a cozy cinnamon-colored sweater dress with matching tights, a suede belt and boots.

Skipping any visual jewelry, she completed the look with her signature bouncy blonde blowout. Simple eye shadow and a berry lip (not too far off from the natural makeup she wears today as a Rhode ambassador) accompanied her bronzer-forward makeup.
