Beyond curating our Halloween costumes and embarking on yet another “Gilmore Girls” rewatch, team Fashionista stocked up on our fall fashion favorites this October.
It was quite a collaboration-centric month, with beloved brands joining forces on patterned outerwear, sleek footwear and “Wicked”-inspired designs. We continued to fill our cold-weather wardrobes with a boxy brown leather jacket, a suede shacket and a wool cable-knit sweater. Loungewear also topped our October shopping lists, spanning polka dotted pajamas, relaxed-fit joggers, knit yoga pants and a cozy hoodie. As for our autumnal accessories, we loved an equestrian-inspired pendant necklace, blooming flower earrings and a two-tone pierced signet ring.
Ahead, see (and shop!) all of our top fashion finds from October.
&Daughter Cable Crewneck Sweater, $445 $223, available here: “My search for a really great cable-knit sweater came to an end when I found this perfectly uncomplicated piece by &Daughter. The brand does the nicest, high-quality, great-fitting 100% wool, Ireland-made knits that I know will live in my closet for years to come.” —Dhani Mau, Editor in Chief
FP Movement Hit The Slopes Colorblock Pullover, $148, available here: “A fleece pullover is a nostalgic callback to the winter uniform of my early-2000s tweendom, and this one — with a fun color combo and ultra-plush, thick fabrication — became an integral part of my layering wardrobe this month.” —Steph Saltzman, Beauty & Style Director
High Light Rituals The Custom Spell Jewelry Session, $305, available here: “Brand founder and experienced Reiki master Donnie Soddu reads your energy over a Zoom call and creates a custom jewelry piece based on what she feels you need. My 45-minute reading was spot-on; then, the intuitive designer created a bracelet (I chose chain) adorned with the specific crystals she suggested for me: Rose Quartz (for self love), Rhodonite (heart chakra healing), Moonstone (intuitive connection), Aquamarine (spiritual growth and clarity) and Smoky Quartz (grounding and protection).” —Savannah Sitton, Market & Branded Content Editor
Puma Select x Fenty Avanti LS-X, $120, available here: “Every pair of Puma x Fenty sneakers I’ve ever worn has been a hit for me, both in terms of style and comfort. I’m thrilled to wear this new colorway from the brand, which was launched perfectly in time for the start of the NBA season. Go Knicks!” —Brooke Frischer, Associate Editor and Social Media Manager
Municipal Imagine Joggers, $79, available here: “A nice pair of sweatpants is fundamental to my work-from-home clothing rotation, and these premium joggers more than check off the boxes: They’re relaxed-fit and warm enough for cooler days, but also lightweight enough that I won’t overheat once summer comes back around. Bonus points: If I’m feeling up to going to the gym after work, I don’t even have to change my pants for a comfortable workout.” —Janelle Sessoms, Staff Writer
GU Faux Leather Harrington Jacket, $60, available here: “It isn’t quite cold enough to bring my knee-length wool coat out of retirement, but this month’s slight chill had me repeatedly reaching for this faux leather jacket. The boxy fit and loose-fitting sleeves pair perfectly with my chunky knit sweaters, and the collared neckline adds a retro feel to my fall ‘fits. I also love the espresso brown colorway, which complements my autumnal wardrobe.” —Catie Pusateri, Staff Writer
Sézane Serena High Heels, $220, available here: “A pair of closed-toe, kitten-heel slingbacks were at the top of my fall shopping list, so when I saw these, I knew I needed them. I went against my usual instincts and got them in this gorgeous Bordeaux instead of black, and I’m so glad I did because I’ve been wearing them non-stop with my wide assortment of navy and brown clothes, which don’t always work with black accessories. They’re also very comfortable.” —Dhani
Ruti On the Loose Work Pants, $249, available here: “I’m about a year late on trying these barrel-style lounge pants that have been all over social media, but this is a true case of ‘better late than never,’ because I’m hooked. The perfect travel pants, they’re lightweight, super comfy and slightly more elevated than sweats or leggings.” —Steph
Adanola Rib Fold Over Pants, $70, available here: “I’ve uncovered the yoga pant of my dreams: This rib-knit straight-leg style is super stretchy and soft, but still holds its shape, and the waistband is a foldover design that’s super comfortable. When I go for walks with my dog, I’m able to fold my phone into the waistband, so that it’s not sitting on my skin. I do have to take special care when washing them (inside out on a gentle, cold cycle, etc.), but they’re so precious to me, that it’s no bother to keep them in their best shape possible. I hope I can wear these for years to come.” —Savannah
Barbour x Farm Rio Pineapple Dog Coat, $180, available here: “My dog Fred may have plenty of very long, thick hair to keep him warm year-round, but that doesn’t mean he can’t wear a stylish coat for visual effect. This super chic olive-green-and-burnt-orange jacket complements his dark fur beautifully and gets heads turning on every walk.” —Brooke
Bared Footwear Rook, $399, available here: “This October, I stocked up on boots. I got my hands on these sleek, sock-like pairs, and I’m obsessed. The slim silhouette, slight heel and narrow toe shape make for a fun departure from my usual preference for wide, chunky-soled boots. At first, I was slightly concerned that its slim style would make it an uncomfortable fit. To my surprise, they were immediately super comfy to walk in, with no break-in period needed.” —Janelle
Agapée Monea Earrings, $109, available here: “On a quick press trip to Palma de Mallorca this month, these half-flower earrings were a standout. The detailing is so precise, almost as if the anemones were actually dipped in gold. I appreciate the half-flower design, which frames the face while offering a subtle nod to nature.” —Catie
Nia Reese Dress, $88, available here: “I can’t overstate the importance of having at least a couple versatile, timeless black dresses in your wardrobe — especially one like this. It’s lightweight, comfy and perfect for travel (no wrinkles!) and the sheer mesh overlay and subtle ruching add visual interest to the otherwise simple silhouette. Plus, it’s under $100 (and doesn’t look like it).” —Dhani
Sézane Will Jacket in Camel Suede, $305, available here: “Lightweight yet sturdily made, this super-soft suede shacket is perfect for layering over a sweater on cool days or beneath a heftier coat on even cooler ones.” —Steph
Jimmy Fairly The Kos Frames, $175, available here: “I had been shopping for rectangular tortoise frames since last fall, and I’m so happy I found this Parisian brand, especially since it was complimentary to add my prescription lenses. Besides being completely on-trend but also timeless, the frames feel sturdy and have proven to be durable, not showing a single scratch despite dropping them a few times. I was also pleasantly surprised by how fast these delivered, despite the RX lenses which can typically take some time to get made. Through and through, these frames were such a good purchase.” —Savannah
Glossier x WNBA Hoodie, $85, available here: “Yes, Glossier makes great cosmetics, but the brand has also made itself known for executing an incredible sweatshirt. (Just ask Timothée Chalamet.) Its latest limited-edition style, made in collaboration with the WNBA, is just as soft and cozy as the classic baby pink hoodie. I admittedly have barely taken it off since I got it.” —Brooke
Barbour x Farm Rio Luisa Quilted Jacket, $570, available here: “For the crisp days when I want to feel playful and dramatic, I cocoon myself in this jacket. Styling-wise, I can walk out of the house in a simple tee and jeans, letting the outerwear carry the look. And yes, while the eye-catching design — oversized balloon sleeves, corduroy collar, bold print – does most of the heavy lifting, it is functional, too. It’s thick and warm, effectively holding its own against colder weather.” —Janelle
Aqua x Angelica Hicks Long Pajama Set, $98, available here: “Most of my sleepwear consists of baggy sweatshirts repping my alma mater (go Flashes!), so I felt like quite the adult slipping into this polka-dotted pajama set. Bloomingdale’s Aqua brand collaborated with illustrator Angelica Hicks on patterned PJs, with this black-and-white set featuring an embroidered leopard asking: ‘A leopard can’t change its spots?’ Beyond the quirky feline, the best part, of course, is how comfortable the matching set is.” —Catie
Alex Mill x Margaux The Clara Flats, $325, available here: “I couldn’t ignore this amazing collaboration between two of my favorite brands, and while I think every style is covetable and chic, these burgundy suede flats captured my attention for their uniqueness and versatility. They filled a need in my closet I didn’t even know I was there.” —Steph
LilySilk Seamflow Verge Hoodie, $125, available here and Seamflow Stride Sweatpants, $129, available here: “I’m somewhat of an aficionado when it comes to sweatsuits, so my standards are high. This set meets all my expectations: First, it’s rendered of the silk brand’s ‘Silkerry’ fabric, which is a soft and stretchy, yet weighted and warm, jersey knit. Next is the silhouette: I much prefer a wide leg to a jogger, and especially appreciate that the waistband feels true to size and roomy, making them super comfortable to wear all day long while I sit at my desk (or on a plane). I also love that the hoodie is zip-through. The stitch detail helps make the set look elevated, making me feel as polished as I could in a sweatsuit. Lastly, it’s well worth the price and feels way pricer than it is.” —Savannah
Queen of Sparkles x “Wicked” Licensed Green, Pink & Lavender Cotton Short, $150, available here: “Thank goodness! I, for one, am rejoicifying at all the new ‘Wicked’ collaborations coming out ahead of the second film, but especially these very cute color-blocked boxer-style shorts from Queen of Sparkles. I love that they’re very obviously ‘Wicked’-themed, while still being super wearable.” –Brooke
Rellery Horse Necklace, $95, available here: “I’ve always wanted to own a horse, but alas, I have limited finances and live in NYC. But wearing this dainty horse necklace keeps the dream alive.” —Janelle
Z Supply Yelena Aspen Floral Maxi Skirt, $98, available here: “Every season is maxi skirt season for me. This floral-printed skirt from Z Supply has emerged as a fall favorite thanks to its abstract design and comfortable fit. It pairs perfectly with an oversized sweater and heeled boots, but it’s also casual enough for a graphic-tee-and-sneakers moment.” —Catie
Zanni Large Puncture Signet Ring, $880, available here: “I have a penchant for piercings, so this pierced signet ring made quite an impression. I love the use of gold piercings on the silver rectangular face. It took some real thinking through, because there’s several other pieces I love from the risqué brand, but I pulled the trigger and ordered a pinky ring (most jewelry brands don’t cater to size 3, so extra points to the independent label for offering that, since all its pieces are handmade in NYC) and I predict it’ll be a new go-to piece of mine that I’ll never take off.” —Savannah
