Assistant Professor or Professor of Practice in Fashion at Belmont University

With the continued growth of its programs, the Department of Fashion Design & Merchandising in the O’More College of Architecture and Design at Belmont University is seeking applications for a faculty position beginning August 1, 2025, either as a tenure-track faculty or professor of practice.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
● Preparing and teaching undergraduate courses in fashion with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
   o foundational skills in clothing construction, patterning, draping and fashion illustration
   o fashion technologies from Adobe Creative Suite to technical design
   o textiles and sustainability
   o product development, sourcing and manufacturing
● Student recruitment, academic advising, mentoring, and retention
● Scholarly and/or creative activity commensurate with rank appointment
● College and university service

The successful candidate will be expected to pursue these aspects of faculty life and within an ecumenical, student-focused environment that brings together the best of liberal arts and professional education in a Christ-centered community of learning and service.

Required Qualifications:
A terminal degree in fashion or a closely related field (e.g., Ph.D., MFA, or foreign equivalent) is required for appointment in a tenure-track position. Applicants without acknowledged terminal degrees but holding similar appropriate credentials and/or a record of significant professional accomplishment will be considered for appointment as Professor of Practice.

Professional experience in teaching at a college-level and/or fashion industry position.
