Alison Brie's Two-Piece Look Is a Lesson on How to Wear Polka Dots as a Grown-Up

The actress was literally spotted promoting season three of “Glow” in an Orseund Iris cropped top and matching midi skirt.

Alison Brie had a busy day promoting season three of “Glow” on Tuesday. First, the actress made a cheerful appearance on “Good Morning America” in a bright marigold Zimmermann flared hem dress. Later, she changed into an equally summery, albeit more mature, ensemble for a SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations: “Glow” event. Styled by Erin Walsh, Brie wore a silky, two-piece polka-dot set by beloved Instagram label Orseund Iris. The set consisted of a cropped top with tacked rolled sleeves and a matching high-waisted midi skirt with ruching. She lightly accessorized the nostalgically patterned garments with black ankle strap heels and a few rings. Makeup artist Quinn Murphy then added a pop of color to the otherwise neutral look by giving Brie a deep red lip.

We’ve been seeing plenty of polka dots on the red carpet, and the spots were also popular among the street style crowd at Couture Week, so it seems the playful motif is making a definite comeback. This time around, though, the dots don’t have to feel retro or give off Minnie Mouse vibes. Take Brie’s sultry polka-dot ‘fit for instance: The midriff-baring top adds some sex appeal to the spots, while the vintage-looking silk satin fabric elevates the circular print, taking it far out of costume territory. Plus, the larger size of the dots themselves makes the classic pattern feel fresh and a whole lot cooler.
