Florals for spring may not be groundbreaking, but it’s surely breathtaking.
Last year during fashion month, the Spring 2018 runways casted out the season’s signature florals and replaced it with tropical prints — an understandable move, given everyone’s eagerness for a vacation during the summer months. But I, for one, am calling for an end to the florals-in-spring embargo. Florals for spring isn’t a cliche — it’s intuitive. Think about it: It’s the first time the sun has likely hit any part of your skin below the neck in months, the sun is shining, birds are chirping and flowers are finally back in full bloom.
It makes sense to want to commemorate those indescribably beautiful first few weeks of spring with something that’s so symbolic of renewed life. And the floral print seems to reach its maximum potential when scattered across a breezy dress with that perfect right-after-your-knees length that harkens a whimsical walk in the park or a lazy brunch out on a patio or a quiet summer Friday at work.
