Valentino Hosted a Funeral for PP Pink

Valentino is known for color. 

Look no further than its Fall 2022 PP Pink collection that singlehandedly laid the groundwork for the following year of Barbiecore. For Fall 2024, however, Pierpaolo Piccioli ditched color completely and presented an all-black collection.

“For the Valentino Le Noir Fall 2024 collection, Pierpaolo Piccioli reconsiders Valentino through the lens of black — here representative not of an absence of color, nor an exercise in monochrome or monotone, but rather the discovery of an entire spectrum of shades, indefinitely nuanced, within one,” the show notes read.

Though the collection is entirely centered within a universe of black, the textures, fabrics, details and silhouettes are anything but one note. Soft adornments such as lace, ruffles and rosettes accent an array of dresses, from sheer maxis to nipple-baring minis. Tailoring also takes center stage via embroidered long coats, casual suiting and thigh-baring blazer dresses.
