Even as jelly sandals for adults became more of a thing over the last couple of years, I intended to leave this netted footwear style in my childhood, where I thought it belonged. Sure, a certain quiet luxury brand’s colorful jelly flats caught my eye last spring, but my financial status and aversion to dupes kept me from making a purchase.
Fast forward to 2025, and Tory Burch has opened my mind with its own jelly shoe concept. A jelly Mary Jane flat mule might sound like too many shoe trends at once, but the result is somehow perfect: sweet without being cutesy, and distinctive from other styles on the market without really feeling like a sartorial risk. Plus, any possibility of injurious heel-rubbing is eliminated by the backless construction.
I love the understated clear and black versions, which would align with my almost entirely neutral shoe wardrobe, but I’m strongly considering going against my minimalist instincts and purchasing the red. I feel like the little extra dose of childlike novelty is just what my feet need this spring and summer.
