Tibi Gives a Master Class on Thoughtful Minimalism for Spring 2025

With each season, Tibi consistently manages to reinterpret and revitalize well-loved silhouettes: Day-to-day wardrobe staples like solid tunics and neutral button-up shirts become thrilling — whether because of their oversized pockets that double as semi-pleats or subtly elongated collars that add just the right amount of style to an otherwise unassuming look.

“We are constantly wanting to push ourselves and add onto what we already have,” Tibi Creative Director Amy Smilovic told Fashionista backstage at the label’s Spring 2025 show. “[The clothes] are always chill and always modern and classic. I think we understand very clearly who we are.”

Through elegantly baggy trousers, knotted midi skirts, backwards blouses and more, Tibi reaffirms that there isn’t one way to do interesting fashion. It can come in the form of straightforward, uncomplicated silhouettes with thoughtful, intention-driven details and styling, like misplaced belt loops or angular popped collars that create visual interest.

Though the collection looked relaxed and effortless on the runway, Smilovic admitted it didn’t feel that way throughout the entire design process: “When you are pushing and taking risks, there might be a few more battles behind the scenes than normal, but that’s okay. Friction always makes for a better collection anyway.” She joked, “Honestly, the biggest challenge was just getting the models here on time today.”

Many of those models were men — more so than on previous Tibi runways. “Our men’s business is growing, and we’re not a men’s line,” said Smilovic. “The men are all wearing the regular Tibi clothing and they look insanely [good].”

As for how Tibi is navigating its expanding market, Smilovic is focusing the brand’s attention on smaller concept boutiques as opposed to bigger name brands. “Four years ago we made a commitment that we were only going to work with the best speciality stores around the world, and we did that. That and our direct business is thriving,” said the designer. “What we said we were going to do, we’ve done and we’re sticking to it.”
