I’ll admit it: Even beauty editors are susceptible to the lure of TikTok-viral products. The algorithms absolutely get me from time to time, and that was most definitely the case with BK Beauty’s Angie Hot & Flashy A506 Concealer Brush. Within a two-day period, I was served no fewer than 10 videos showing its mesmerizing ability to seamlessly blend undereye concealer, and I knew I had to try it out for myself.

My shadowy, dark undereyes are the main focus of my day-to-day concealer endeavors, and I’ve always relied on a sponge to apply and blend out my coverage. But after using this brush once, I’m a convert: With tightly-packed fibers set into a fluffy contoured “kitten paw” shape, it’s the ideal size to get into the tight undereye corners and gently buff everything out. It’s made with synthetic bristles, which don’t absorb makeup the way that natural hairs do, so you’ll end up going through less product over time and reducing waste. (While some synthetic brushes get a bad rap for feeling plastic-y or stiff, that’s absolutely not the case here — the fibers here are plush, ultra-soft and luxurious. I’d never guess they were cruelty-free.)

I’ve used the tool consistently over the past few weeks with creams, liquids and powders. It can be used with all three, but I’ve found it definitely works best with the latter two. I’ve been using it with Saie‘s new Slip Tint All-Over Concealer (an ultra-dewy, lightweight liquid formula with a skin-like finish) and love the way it helps work the product into every little crevice, buffing it out into the most even, perfect layer. I’ve also tried using the brush to conceal other areas on my face, and while it’s equally adept at covering blemishes and redness, I still prefer to dot the concealer on with the doe-foot applicator included in the tube and then rely on the brush as a blending tool, rather than an application one.

This brush has earned a permanent spot in my makeup bag, and it makes me feel one step closer to being a pro makeup artist every time I use it. BeautyTok, it seems, truly does know what’s up. (Unless it comes to conversations about making your own DIY sunscreen at home — in that case, it most certainly does not.)
