While I certainly wouldn’t call myself the most well-traveled person of all time, I’ve been on my share of trips — for both work and pleasure — over the years. Despite that, I have yet to learn how to not overpack. Instead, I decided to upgrade my luggage to accommodate my inability to edit. (Sometimes, it’s about working with your habits instead of trying to change them, ya know?)

I’d been eyeing suitcases by the brand Béis, not just because it was founded by Shay Mitchell, but also because of a key feature: a weight-limit indicator that turns red if your suitcase is over 50 pounds, preventing that dreaded mid-airport scramble to re-pack your luggage at the check-in counter. A scramble I know all to well.

Thankfully, the folks at Béis were kind enough to gift me a suitcase of my choosing last year. I went with the 26″ option (the brand’s second-largest) in navy, and I’m obsessed.

In addition to the wonderful weight-limit indicator, there are a slew of other features I never knew I needed but now love: the many compartments inside the suitcase, the compression flap that keeps everything nice and tight, the optional two-inch expansion, the hard-yet-lightweight surface. It truly is the ideal suitcase for overpackers.
