I definitely won’t lose my shades this summer.
I highly recommend following Donni on Instagram. The Los Angeles-based brand boasts a cheery feed filled with pearl-embellished thermals worn on girls who have that rare ability to look effortlessly cool in four different washes of denim and plaid. It’s become the account I turn to when I want to wear a tube top in 53-degree weather, and it gives me endless ideas of how to amp up an otherwise basic outfit with chic additions, like scarves, scrunchies, chokers and — my new personal favorite — sunglasses chaines.
Donni’s sunglasses chains should not be confused with the fishermen or fraternity variety, which are known as Croakies, or the ones your practical, fanny pack-wearing dad sported on family trip. Instead, they are more like cool necklaces worn backwards. The eyewear retainers are available in turquoise and brown beads, puka shells, pearls and in gold and silver chains. I would take them all, but if I had to pick one, I’d go for the gold. Come summer, I’ll wear the shiny — and practical — cord to the beach, to the park, to work and beyond. Now, I just need to buy a new pair of sunglasses that I like just as much to match.
