Editors’ Picks are the Fashionista team’s true (#notspon) fashion and beauty obsessions, handpicked by professionals who see it all.
As a millennial, I came of age during the height of the wristlet. A staple accessory of the early aughts, it made for the perfect “starter” handbag for my generation: The little, often logo-emblazoned pouches were the perfect size for fitting a Lancôme Juicy Tube, a chunky Nokia cell phone (borrowed from mom so you could call her when you needed to be picked up, of course) — and exactly nothing else.
Since then, mini bags have cycled in and out of style. We’ve seen belt bags, novelty shape bags, bag charms, bracelet bags and every manner of impractical clutch (shout-out, Loewe tomato bag) get their moment in the spotlight. But the humble wristlet hasn’t really had a full comeback. Allow me to submit, for your consideration, the Ulla Johnson Adria Pleated Wave Pochette, a highly chic, modern update on the wristlet concept.

A mini adaptation of Ulla Johnson’s Adria bag from its Fall 2024 collection, this pouch “is carved from strips of supple leather that mimic the beauty of undulating waves,” per the brand. The wristlet-esque part, though, is the gold-tone metal bracelet ring, making the accessory a true jewelry/handbag hybrid. It’s also worth noting that the hardware is detachable, and the bag does come with a removable crossbody strap for those times when wrist-wear isn’t ideal.
I love the versatility of this type of mini bag: The diminutive size and jewelry-like touches make it feel elegant, while the off-kilter shape and thick leather lend some quirk and functionality that dress it down a touch. Now I just need to grab a Rhode Lip Treatment (my 2024 version of a Juicy Tube) and be on my way.
