Editors’ Picks are the Fashionista team’s true (#notspon) fashion and beauty obsessions, handpicked by professionals who see it all. Any beauty product you see here has been vetted and tested by the editor recommending it.

I first wrote about Gee Beauty Prime Skin — a dewy-finish, buildable-coverage tinted moisturizer — as one of my favorite beauty discoveries back in May, but as we’ve entered the cold winter months, my affinity for the formula has only grown. It’s not just me: I’ve recently seen multiple beauty editors raving about how much they love this formula on social media, so I figured it was time to get into it a bit more extensively.

Despite the product name, it isn’t technically a primer — but you also don’t need to use one with it, since the lotion-like cream smooths easily over skin. About two or three pumps’ worth is enough to cover your entire face, at least with my preferred method, which is via damp makeup sponge. I love the way other makeup layers on top of it, especially cream concealers, blushes, bronzers and highlighters, which tend to melt in especially seamlessly.

While I really loved using this product in the summer for it’s lightweight, non-greasy feel, I’ve fallen for it more this winter. The ceramide- and hyaluronic acid-rich formula offers another layer of moisture beyond my skin care, and ensures that my makeup remains glow-y throughout the day, without settling into fine lines or getting patchy on dry spots.

Per the brand, the formula contains “flexible color technology,” so its nine shade options are meant to span every skin tone; given that my shade is 3 and I’m pretty pale, I’d be a bit skeptical as to how well the darkest option truly “adapts” to the most melanin-rich of skin tones. That and the rather up-there price tag are the main drawbacks, but I’ve been using the same bottle since May, and am probably still about a month out from needing a re-stock, so that $58 does get you pretty far.

I also love that it comes from a woman-owned brand — founded and run by a mother and her three daughters — who all use the product religiously themselves.
