The Minty Dress Helping Tyler Live Out a Princess Lifestyle

The rumors are true: I might have a summer dress addiction.

Madewell Ruffle-Strap Smocked Dress, $118 (was $138), available here.

First of all, yes, I am aware that I may potentially have a summer dress problem. The “problem,” if you’re going to insist on calling it that, is that I can’t stop buying them. I can’t help it! I happen to think a floaty dress is the single easiest thing to wear when it gets hot and humid out.

My latest purchase is this smocked number from Madewell. I bought it assuming it would be a good weekend dress, but it turns out it’s even better than that. The photos online don’t really do it justice: In person, the fabric has a sort of sheen to it, which makes it look more regal than ready for the beach. The ruffles tumble delicately up the shoulders and across the back, and the smocking hits at just the right parts of the bust and waist. My boyfriend told me it made me look like I was in “Ella Enchanted” and really, who am I to argue with that?
