The Long-Sleeve Polo Top That Maria Can Actually Wear When It's Hot Out

It’s made from a moisture-wicking mesh that will keep me cool and dry.

Dressing for another summer in New York City while you have an office job is a bit of a gamble: You easily break a sweat after commuting through a hot-and-humid subway system, then start to exhibit symptoms of frostbite after spending hours in a room with the AC blasting cold air all day. Where’s the happy medium here?

Those torturous days have not arrived just yet, but that doesn’t mean I’m not prepping my wardrobe already. I have my eye on this long-sleeve polo top from Columbia x Opening Ceremony‘s latest collection, which I can actually wear when it’s hot out. How so, you might ask? It’s made from a moisture-wicking mesh that will keep me cool and dry as I speed across the platform from one crowded C-train to an also-crowded F-train, but will still give me a bit of coverage and warmth while I’m Logged On at my desk. Plus, it comes in a cool leopard print, so it’s less sporty and more on-trend than your usual polo.

I’ll likely pair it with jeans for work, then swap them for a pair of biker shorts on the weekend. Hell, I may even team them with the collaboration’s high-waisted Bonehead shorts for the ultimate gorpcore look and plan a hiking trip in the Catskills. Or, perhaps, I’m getting way too ahead of myself here.
