The Eye Cream That Convinced Me to Become a Regular Eye Cream User

Growing up, the biggest piece of beauty advice I received from my mom was to use eye cream. 

I remember watching her meticulously apply her skin-care routine every night, which always included an eye cream, oftentimes her favorite Shiseido product. It made me aware of the brand from a young age. I’ve always been a fan of its East-meets-West approach, and I’m now officially also a fan of its Ultimune Eye Power Infusing Eye Concentrate. 

I’ve always been conscious of my undereyes; it’s an area where skin is thinner and more delicate than on the rest of the face, so it can become becoming the first to develop signs of aging, like fine lines as collagen levels decrease. While I’m not a big fan of “anti-aging” marketing (aging is a natural process and we’ll all age, if we’re lucky) I’m all for the idea of protecting skin in the long-term.

I’ve been using two pumps of the lightweight gel-cream — which is more than enough to generously slather around my eyes — at night before bed. After a few weeks of consistent application, I’ve been waking up to far less puffiness than I’d normally experience, and the skin beneath my eyes appears tighter than usual. I love how soothing the silky formula feels going on (owing to its high concentration of dimethicone, a silicone that lends spreadable, smooth texture) and that my undereyes feel hydrated (thanks to glycerin, which moisturizes and protects skin). It’s an eye cream that has gotten me to become a regular eye cream user — mom, are you proud?
