Editors’ Picks are the Fashionista team’s true (#notspon) fashion and beauty obsessions, handpicked by professionals who see it all.

As a mostly WFH girlie, I’m privileged to no longer need a work bag to tote my laptop around on a daily commute. But I do occasionally need to bring my computer along with me while traveling or running around the city to work-related events — and yet, I don’t really own a professional-looking bag to serve that need. So I’ve had my eye on J.Crew’s Berkeley Bucket Bag, an oversized shoulder bag that fits a 13″ laptop —but doesn’t actually look like a laptop bag.

The roomy bag is far chicer than any work bag I’ve encountered before: It has a simple, structured-but-slouchy silhouette, a 9″-drop shoulder strap and a hidden internal tie closure to keep things secure. A cute-but-subtle design touch is the “oar-shaped” details, inspired by J.Crew‘s labels from the ’80s and ’90s, that secure the handle to the bag.

I love that the tote is dual-sided, with smooth leather on one panel and textured suede on the other, offering the duality of a reversible garment, depending on which way you carry it. I’m leaning toward the “Walnut Brown” colorway — brown (especially brown suede) is having quite the moment, after all — but the black and oxblood variations are equally appealing and versatile.
