Even before the first red carpet began, the 2024 Cannes Film Festival got off to a strong sartorial start on Monday when Anya Taylor-Joy was photographed arriving at Hotel Martinez in a one-shouldered Altein dress and larger-than-life sunhat. Later came Jury President Greta Gerwig in Carven, then in daytime Maison Margiela Artisanal; followed by Lily Gladstone in back-to-back Gucci moments and Meryl Streep in a crisp white Michael Kors suit. The annual A-list gathering was off to the races.Â
The festival officially began on Tuesday evening with the customary Opening Ceremony, which brought out eveningwear from Giorgio Armani Privé (on Eva Green) to Elie Saab (on Jane Fonda).
