When I spoke to Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell (the designers behind their joint-named Ready-to-wear label) last February, they emphasized their focus on building out their core offerings, and they’ve done exactly that for Spring 2025.
“I like to look at the collection and have it look like somebody’s closet,” Kasell told Fashionista at the brand’s New York Fashion Week presentation. “There’s everyday stuff that’s easy to wear, but at the same time it’s fashion.”
Though there are 47 looks in the new collection, they aren’t exactly new. Familiar garments like a silk shirt-style gown with bows cascading down the center, ruffle-trimmed blouses and, of course, the brand’s signature bow-embroidered suit, are offered in new colorways and fabrications, allowing existing customers to re-invest in pieces they know and love while still experiencing the thrill of something fresh.

“We love to repeat the same silhouettes. Our customers get used to what they like and then we vary it,” explained Kasell. “A lot of our customers say [our designs] are very compliment-inducing, which I think means that we’re doing the right thing.”
New styles like bow-tied gingham bloomers, toile bustiers and butter-yellow drop-waist dresses marry into the existing Tanner Fletcher wardrobe seamlessly, building on the romantic and vintage design elements that originally helped the brand develop its strong customer base.

That fandom-like obsession with the brand has translated to tangible progress in retail. “We’re proceeding with caution, [but] our direct-to-consumer is a really strong part of our business. That’s probably the majority of our business,” Kasell said.
On top of their unique DTC e-commerce model (the brand sells its clothing alongside vintage knickknacks the duo finds at thrift stores, estate sales and antique shops on its website), the designers have also found success with stores like Nordstrom, Selfridges and more major retailers.

Beyond the clothes, Tanner Fletcher has become known for some of the most memorable presentations of New York Fashion Week. For Spring 2023, showgoers walked through various scenes leading up to a prom night. For Spring 2024, the brand held a beauty pageant-style runway. Now, for Spring 2025, audience members watched as models enacted several ordinary activities — another way to show people that the designs are meant for every day.

In one corner, a model stood in a puff-sleeve tea dress sharpening dozens of pencils to perfect points. In another, a teacher taught the alphabet wearing a rippled collared shirt, a brown pinstripe double-breasted blazer and stonewash jeans.
“I feel like [the theater of the presentations] comes from our authenticity value. We really like to show people being people,” explained Richie. “We street cast a lot of our models […] It kind of shows [our clothes on] real people [doing] real actions and real dilemmas that people face.”
