The temporary Stylist should be someone who can create looks and displays that gain buyers attention, elevate trends and relay visual stories within the brand aesthetic. Positive energy and pride-in-work go a long way on this team.
This is a part-time, temporary role will last through early January. Stylist will work out of a beautiful POP-UP Shop located in the Arts District in downtown Los Angeles, as well as a showroom in the LA Fashion District and nearby boutiques. This could be a great part-time gig with flexible hours – for the right person!
The freelance Stylist takes direction from both a Visual Merchandising Director and a senior Store Manager, but should be able to work independently.
Responsibilities
- Style all visual displays, mannequins, windows and floor space with an emphasis on item sales, brand aesthetic and fashion trends
- Create sales driven, fashion-elevated, detailed and unique in-store displays
- Styled displays should gain buyer attention and consumer appeal with an end result of increased sales
- Deliver displays that photograph well and are visually appealing to wholesale clients and retail consumers
- Will participate in creating a *Holiday Selfie* booth at two locations
- Attend weekly Style Planning / Merchandising meetings and present visual planning boards and illustrations, gather feedback, input and critique
- Will share and explain style-stories to Buying Team, Sales Managers & Showroom
- Share comments and plans with other Visual Merchandisers and store Sales Specialists to improve sales through product knowledge and creativity
- Collaborates with cross teams such as Buyers, Sales Planners, PR and Marketing to understand and incorporate sales priorities
- May assist gathering style pieces for celebrity and media gifting
- Travel to nearby (local DTLA) boutique trunk shows to provide visual style support
- Check and monitor sale forecasts, create and propose action plans as they relate to style and merchandising promotions
- May assist with Showroom visual styling or support
Qualifications for the Freelance Stylist:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree or work experience in lieu of degree
- Experience; 1-3 years’ of visual merchandising, preferably within a trendy specialty, luxury women’s or missy apparel brand
- Should have experience styling for retail or wholesale lines, or photoshoots and/ or in-store displays
- Ability to work orderly under deadlines, make sound decisions and prioritize work
- Maintain a positive attitude and keep align with team mentality
- Strong attention to detail, open to suggestions and critique
- Working knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Experience with Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign or other visual design tools, hand sketching (a plus) to generate merchandising plans / ideas
- Some experience sourcing props useful, but not mandatory
- Ability to (or desire to) read and implement sales forecasting and planning reports
- Must provide portfolio and or work samples, when asked
- Ability to stand frequently and lift up to 25lbs as needed
- Strong attention to detail, open to suggestions and critique
- Submitted portfolio link is a huge plus
- Work onsite approximately 25 hours a week in Los Angeles Arts District & Fashion District
- Available for about 4-6 weeks; early December 2019 through early to mid-January 2020
