Position: Temporary/Freelance Product Development & Production Manager – Maternity Leave Coverage (24-40 hrs/week)
Location: New York, NY, in-office
Duration: Approximately 8 weeks, timing TBD – Feb/March thru April
Position Summary:
Susan Alexandra is looking for an experienced Product Development & Production Manager to manage and support our team during a maternity leave period. This role requires hands-on oversight of our product categories, supply chain, and costing processes, working closely with the founder to ensure all product launches align with strategic and financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
– Product Development & Production Oversight: Lead the team in developing and producing handbags, jewelry, and homeware across 30+ annual capsule launches.
– Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing, Fulfillment, and Store teams to align on launch strategies and timelines.
– Supply Chain Management: Manage communications with domestic and international factories, vendors, and artisans, ensuring alignment with design standards and cost targets.
– Process Optimization: Streamline supply chains and ensure to enact cost-saving measures in raw materials, packaging, and production.
– Calendar & Milestones: Establish and manage timelines across product, marketing, store to ensure milestones are met.
– Product Strategy & Execution: Work with the founder to conceptualize launches, build assortments, and oversee technical specifications.
Requirements:
– 8+ years of experience in product development and production within accessories and/or jewelry.
– Proven leadership and project management skills, with a strong understanding of supply chains and costing.
– Experience managing diverse production types, from domestic artisans to high-volume international factories.
– Ability to foster collaboration and maintain effective communication across departments.
